Why not?

If you cannot step into the same river twice, then there is no same river to make the attempt to step into. The river you initially stepped into ceases to exist. Which makes the comment 'you cannot step into the same river twice' somewhat inane.
However, if you could step into the same river twice, then that is only made possible by the fact that the river is "same". Which logically invalidates the notion that you cannot step into the same river twice.

Cratylus is attributed with responding to Heraclitus' 'same river twice' statement with the claim that you cannot step into the same river once (since the point of entry of your foot occurs earlier than the next lower point by which time the waters have moved on, so there is no same river, ever). Fortunately, for most of us the meaning of the word 'river' includes its changing water supply, its meandering and changes of course etc. which, for instance makes it possible for me to cross the River Mersey on a ferry and return on the same ferryboat across the same river later.

See? And you said memory does not exist.

Wildcat told me to say that. (Though I do believe memory is more like a river than a storage depot).

life is based on assumptions...the most dangerous is to assume ours is the only correct assumption
How do you know this assumption is not a false?

assumptions can change rapidly, but i can not assume anything clearly about "this assumption" of yours.....how ever i assume it is false.

So, what you are saying is that the only assumption that is correct, in the entire universe of assumptions, is
"life is based on assumptions...the most dangerous is to assume ours is the only correct assumption"
But, of course my assumption, according to you, is assumed to be false by you. So, you seem to be suggesting that the only assumptions that are correct are your own.

It would seem to me that some people's assumptions are "correct" assumptions and they are correct to the exclusion of other's false assumptions.
