More: "Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, announced December 19 that he would keep the Senate open with a series of "pro forma" sessions through mid-January."

"Reid refused to approve Bradbury because of concerns about his involvement in crafting legal opinions for the administration on interrogation techniques of terrorism suspects."

Maybe there is some hope that the Democrats will do even more to stop the tyranny of Bush and his administration. Go Dems!

Bush should have countered by calling congress into a special session over Christmas and new year's day.

AP: "A nine-second session gaveled in and out by Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., prevented Bush from appointing as an assistant attorney general a nominee roundly rejected by majority Democrats."

There is war going on among our representatives in Congress. This is, in my opinion, beyond sad. And yet, effective and manipulative. Mr. Clinton made 139 recess appointments. I have a feeling that after this Congressional session, the atmosphere is going to change.

For once, n2, I do agree with you. Given the state of our nation and its dealings, Congress should be working night and day to correct the damage done by this administration. More time in session means more time to get that done.
