I assume the headline comes from Baptist Press and not from Barna, the polling organization, but still, the implicit claim that Hispanic Catholics are not Christians strikes me as breathtaking in its audacity. Via BibleBeltBlogger (bit.ly/1YxMX).

Why wouldn't they want to become Muslims instead? You get to behead, strap bombs around your waist, blow yourself up and kill everyone around you, and there's 72 male virgins that look like Kim Jong Il in the afterlife? Who could pass that up? Plus, atheists pretend not to notice while they're feeding Christians to the lions and accusing 70 year-old grandmothers of running over people in their 40 year-old cars they bought with their late husbands on the way to mass.

The Bible describes salvation as:

(Eph 2:8) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

(Eph 2:9) not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Most Catholics believe in faith plus works and deny this scripture. You cannot be saved by works or any combination of it. Faith and faith alone in the finished work of Christ is salvation as taught by the Bible.

That's what I've found Baptists in the Bible Belt of the U.S. to believe--most Baptists think Catholics and Lutherans are Satan personified--we drink, we party hardy, we have (to them) strange religious services, we can't join lodges, etc., etc.

I don't think they feel that Mormons are Christian either.

That makes it hard for the Republicans. They cant have Romney for President because of his Mormon beliefs.

And Jews need not apply.

For sure no Muslims.

And any religion that abides by what Jesus preached, would be considered too Liberal.

Republican party is getting smaller by the minute.

You all are arguing with the written word of God, not the Baptist, Republicans, or people in the Bible belt.

What do you think Ephesians 2:8-9 says?

God doesn't write books, so I am not arguing with the written word of God. Sorry to disappoint you but you just executed an EPIC SOURCE FAIL!

Besides, we are arguing YOUR interpretation of what YOU think is the word of God. An important difference.
