We need to step back where we can and let our bodies do what they are designed to do , defend us against bugs. As was pointed out in the clip it was the elderly who succumbed to the "superbug, that being the case then it should follow that the treatment of routine type bugs should be more restricted to the age groups that are, due to their age, less able to defend themselves. Our society is so obsessed about sanitizing (for example, my local supermarket has a wipe dispenser at the entrance so people can swab down the shopping cart handles) that children's immune systems never get a chance to develop as they should. Unnecessary overuse of antibiotics (e.g. in livestock) makes it worse. Improper disposal of unused pharmaceuticals puts drugs in the environment - most urban water supplies have detectible levels of antidepressants and hormones. |
