Didn't this Congress 'approve' this General's appointment to go to Iraq? Didn't they ask for a report? He ought to hand out blank sheets of paper to them all, considering they've all dismissed his assessment even before he's made it.

Our military's efforts and progress has been undermined and ridiculed by these haters. Mark my word, they are doing nothing to help our soldiers get home sooner. They embolden our enemies there, weaken the resolve of the Iraqi people and it's struggling government, and encourage our allies to desert the conflict there because this creates doubts about America's resolve.

You can disagree about why we went there and people are free to speak and vote their consciences, but this kind of rhetoric says to me that 'the pot is calling the kettle black'.

(sorry for the advertisement; couldn't get it out)

I saw a program on MILT channel called "Alpha Company: Iraq Diary." The troops said their mission in Iraq changed. Their mission started out to subdue Saddam's army. They did that....hence, the "Mission Accomplished" banner. But, then the mission changed to protecting the Iraqi people from the insurgents.

They don't get a chance to go ahead and fight the enemy, who use IEDs --not combat. There are people out there who want to kill them (and us) every single day. They have to stay alert 24/7 and that wears them down. Then, they hear that many Americans don't understand their mission and that wears them down.

They pray to God before they venture out of their bases. Even if they ...

The REAL Napster
I know the Democrats have already made up their minds and think everybody who has anything good to say are lying. It's incredible. The troops could have already been home by now, if they had had the support they deserve.

My heart cries for all of us. The Islamic terrorists are demanding we turn to Islam. That's not going to happen. Thus, sometimes, war is the answer.
Well said.

And the Dems have done what, exactly, in the last few months since they control Congress, to make USA a safer and more productive nation? Time for a real change - but for a person with ideals that are transparent to the American Public. Whether Dem or Repub. Or Libertarian, or GreenPeace. Or, whatever's left. Or right.

I believe the problems have become so complex that there are no answers that will fit into our politically correct culture and there are no *statesmen* who are willing to make difficult decisions for the good of their Country. Everything is *global*; nationalism has become bad along with patriotism. We are self-destructing. The problem is that those who secretly cheer the enemies of America on don't seem to realize that they will go down with the rest of us. And when America ceases to be the dominant superpower, the world as we know it will collapse into complete and total destruction....and then, unless Jesus comes, :~) a new super power will emerge from the ashes.
