Now, if only Americans can get over their fear of a woman's breast, maybe more women will breastfeed. I speak of how most Americans feel that it is inappropriate to breastfeed in public. Some even use the language "abhorrent" and "disgusting". Are you kidding me? It's one thing to whine about Janet's aged titty blasting across the airwaves, but getting mad t a mother for feeding her child, especially when most take great pains to make it as unobtrusive as possible... Ok.. on topic: Yet another reason to breast feed. Not only does it greatly boost the immune system of a child, but it may prevent you kid from ending up on anti-depressants for life... see: * [url=http://www.azcentral.co... This has nothing to do with Americans being fearful... I don't think there's a single mother who'd consider against breastfeeding because of public views of feeding in public. Most of the press and medical community pushes breastfeeding as if it was air... that's NOT the problem. The problem a lot of times is inability to breastfeed due to lack of milk and unfortunately there isn't much one can do if that's the case. Outside of that, if you want to blame anything on the lack of breastfeeding - it's the career situation, where mothers go back to work after a short period of time... unfortunate side-effect of 'progress' on the female spectrum. did you read the article? |
