AtlLiberal says: Once again we're presented with the curious sight of grown people (at least in a chronological sense) getting in a lather over a display that is contrary to their sacred view of the world. Fear seems to be the driving force behind most of the actions of religious people and that fear is exhibited here. Predictably, their response is unfortunately representative of a school yard fight instead of adults addressing a difference of opinion. We'll get to it! You can imagine their moral outrage if the shoe was on the other foot. Acceptance is a concept that they have yet to learn. If it ain't what I think is correct, nuke it. @ tabsey Ha! Over correction points out the underlying fear, I think. Christian Nationalists haven't been questioned so relentlessly for many years. They have become complacent and smug. The constant drumbeat of the politician/preachers has begun to wear even on religious people who have glimpsed the hypocrisy underlying the god talk. Maybe there are even some who want to hear moral justification for religious dogma? Time will tell if this nascent rationalism will catch on or if we'll slide back into the familiar comfort of daddy god taking care of us. |
