Snopes says they are photoshopped - darn, I thought they were real!

And why can I not dye my cats. Serves them right for dying my carpets vomit-colored.

Actually, in this case, photoshop is not what was used. The "paints" used are made with vegetable dyes and hydrogen peroxide which are harmless to the cats. My girlfriend has a book that tells all about how it's done and shows quite a few pictures including some of the ones that were included in this clip. Snopes must be referring to some other painted cat pictures that I'm not aware of. So dye away!

Oops! I guess I was mistaken. I read the snopes article, and see that they did mention the book that I have as being a sham. Darn! I really thought that the artwork was real.... Oh well ;-(

I was wondering how bored one would have to be--to be painting a cats butt!

I'm glad it's not true. This is so disrespectful to the poor cats. That being said, I shamefully must admit, that when I was a kid I had a white cat Xerxes, that I once dyed with food colouring. He ended up a most beautiful fluorescent blue. Ha ha! Fabulous! Well, one day when he was outside, a drunk passed by and just as the cat passed in front of him on the footpath, he stopped dead in his tracks! He looked at the bottle in his hand, looked at the cat and then looked at the bottle again. He then put down the bottle and staggered on down the street.... We saw all this going down from the window and laughed our heads off! *LOL*

Don't worry folks, I'll NEVER do it again! .

Wow! That's quite the story. Is it true? Maybe your 'painted' cat changed that guy's life by making him quit the bottle... who knows?

Yeah, I was a bit wild and thoughtless back then. The things kids do, eh? I never did it again though. Someone told me that it was silly and dangerous, because if the colouring had been toxic, I could have done serious harm to the cat when it licked itself. I was SO scared for Xerxes, but he made it through. Whew!... as I hope the drunk did. .

But don't try this at home kids!! It's BAD!!

I agree this a horrible thing to do to any ANIMAL if it is true. Some people just have too much time and money!!
