Yes I have! My brother was a drummer in a band so I agree with this article. But, I took guitar lessons, which even explains more

Ever wondered why it is more common to find boys learning to play the electric guitar, <A href="http://education.guardian.co.uk/schools/story/0,,2272760,00.html" target="_blank">drums</A> or the trombone while girls prefer the flute, <A href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/education/article3724439.ece" target="_blank">harp</A> and violin? A study of nearly half a million children across England shows us that many musical instruments are learnt in schools overwhelmingly by either one sex or the other. This is because, when children pick a musical instrument to learn, they are very often influenced by gender stereotypes. It appears that boys prefer <A href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/7342168.stm" target="_blank">musical instruments</A> that are struck or require high levels of physical exertion.
