The theory of the men being washed overboard and drowned is highly unlikely. If they sea was that rough that it could wash over 3 experienced sailors, then what about the laptop, clothes, table? Unaffected and dry? Unlikely. Also other theories about pirates is also unlikely as if there were pirates, then what about the laptop and wallets? Not seen by the pirates? Not cared about by the pirates? And the vessel? Not cared either? Worthless perhaps? Of course not. If the vessel was not worth a lot, it was worth something. Enough money to share and still be enough for each person unless it was an enormous and gigantic group of pirates. Unlikely again.
