More that the intelligence has been tapped and the person has the ability the weigh up ideas and make a decision. (not necessarily atheism, but....). Intelligent people with access to missionary type education will lean to religion as atheism won't be taught except as an evil. The strange thing is that atheists tend to leave religions alone, unless they ban condoms.
This may be a neo-con plot leading to labelling atheists as know-it-alls. Hehehehe
