Honestly,I don't think it makes much different to the dog. People love their pets. I absolutely adore my kitty cat, Zipper. He follows me around the house wherever I go, he sits and sleeps in my lap. He licks my face in the morning to wake me up when he's hungry. Lately, he's been flailing himself off of my dresser onto the bed to get my attention. I must be sleeping more sound. He snuggles and purrs and calms me down . He doesn't judge me. His world revolves around me.

His preference is sitting in the sink and wailing until I turn on the cold water.

And as you can see by the photo, he seems to find the sink comfortable enough to curl-up-in until the humans arrive. Which probably proves the point that their needs probably don't extend to needing the extravangant. But I can't help myselft. My next project is kitty stairs for sink. He's getting old, and the jump up and down from the sink is not as easy as it used to be. I'm sure he won't use that either. I guess the project is more for me than him..
