While I haven't seen this, I have seen flashing waves on occasion. Mesmerizing! And when it washes on shore and you step on the wet sand, an explosion of green about a foot in diameter expands from your feet.

I've never seen anything like it before. It's very interesting
Did you see that clip awhile back where the shore was covered by a thick and frothy foam? I can't remember where it was but it was reall strange.

Rustee, where did you experience this? I must try and find something on it. Sounds extrordinary.

Yes, Tanyamm I did see it, although I cannot recall the clipoer or title. I'll see if I can find it.

Cool vid.
I've seen it at the beach in Galveston, TX...but presumably it can be seen anywhere that the water's warm enough to let those organisms thrive. They have to be pretty concentrated to light up the waves though, not to mention the season, wind direction, currents, etc, all may play into it arriving on shore. When it's not very concentrated you may not see them light up in the whitecaps, but can still stomp some of them out. They also tend to cling to the clumps of seaweed, so that's usually the first place I'll stomp.

But yeah, it's right up there with fireball/tracer meteor showers being among the coolest displays of nature I've witnessed.
