Just back from looking around the site. I think.

A philosophy can be a lens through which a new development in thinking can be seen. When the new development is seen more clearly, philosophy can be refined, without disregarding the potential value of a retrospective view of past philosophies contribution to the development of thought.
Now I see through a glass darkly.
While some things will change radically others will remain the same. Studying the way philosophy has developed can show us both the difference, and shed light on the aspects of life that we have the power to change, what can be beyond our control. A way of accepting the things that are beyond our control, by changing the things we can.
We are never forced to make a choice, and we'll never control the weather.

As if the ideas and religions and all that our consciousness expands beyond doesn't sometimes get caught back up in them re-stated in a different manner. Concepts and beliefs have ways of hounding us through the ages.
