merrie says: and his son is a US citizen. He was also an employee of Handyman Maintenance at the time of the raid. The lawsuit claims that the Mora’s were detained for over 3 hours and denied food and water during this time. It also alleges that the experience was “humiliating” for Julian Mora since he is a diabetic and was forced to urinate in the parking lot. Almost lost in the story is the fact that the raid resulted in the apprehension of 60 illegal aliens, while the company itself did work for the Maricopa County government. The strategy for silencing Arpaio seems clear; Investigate and sue him into submission. An anti Arpaio website claims that the Sheriff’s office has been involved in over 5000 lawsuits and proclaims that 42 million has been spent defending Arpaio and his department. This is used as a justification for removing Arpaio, whether his efforts are sanctioned under the law is irrelevant to these groups. . . . . . They see him as the problem, not the people filing these frivolous lawsuits. With the Department of Justice involved in an investigation, and the Department of Homeland Security restricting the ability of local law enforcement to arrest illegal aliens, it is becoming increasingly clear that there is a major effort on the part of government allied with groups advocating open borders to drive Arpaio from the lawful enforcement of immigration laws. The government will fund Border Patrol just enough to claim increased apprehensions, but not sufficiently to address the problem in a meaningful way. More aliens continue to enter the country illegally while the Obama administration works on it... Arpaio is a national disgrace. Slap the pink handcuffs on that fat ignorant slob. At a town meeting, someone said something critical of "Sherriff Joe" and a few of the people in the rooom applauded the comment. Arpaio wrote them tickets for "disturbing the peace." He'll go on sweeps in Latino neighborhoods and end up with a couple of old Mexican ladies who were working as maids in motels. Oooo, great job Joe! |
