With the Department of Justice involved in an investigation, and the Department of Homeland Security restricting the ability of local law enforcement to arrest illegal aliens, it is becoming increasingly clear that there is a major effort on the part of government allied with groups advocating open borders to drive Arpaio from the lawful enforcement of immigration laws. The government will fund Border Patrol just enough to claim increased apprehensions, but not sufficiently to address the problem in a meaningful way. More aliens continue to enter the country illegally while the Obama administration works on it...

With the Department of Justice involved in an investigation, and the Department of Homeland Security restricting the ability of local law enforcement to arrest illegal aliens, it is becoming increasingly clear that there is a major effort on the part of government allied with groups advocating open borders to drive Arpaio from the lawful enforcement of immigration laws. The government will fund Border Patrol just enough to claim increased apprehensions, but not sufficiently to address the problem in a meaningful way. More aliens continue to enter the country illegally while the Obama administration works on its immigration amnesty bill scheduled for Congressional consideration later this year.

Cecillia Wang, a managing attorney with the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project laid out their strategy bluntly, “Local sheriff and police forces simply should not be in the business of enforcing immigration laws.”

Bizarro world is alive and well when those working on our behalf and carrying out the will of the people are vilified by their own government and groups supposedly there to protect our “rights.”

Though the ACLU’s mum for the moment, my hunch is that the lawsuit will involve the February raid on Handyman Maintenance Inc., a county vendor located in Phoenix. During that bust, some 60 suspected illegal aliens ended up being arrested. (pdf)

The 66-year-old Julian Mora, who is diabetic, said he and his son were driving to work when a Maricopa County officers cut him off, then ordered the two men out of the truck, frisked and handcuffed them. The officers then transported the Moras to the worksite of Handyman Maintenance, Inc., where the officers were conducting a raid.
