(3) Romney will bring economic credibility. With a few exceptions, qualities or qualifications have not been transferred from veep to the top guy. It's just as possible that, rather than boost McCain's economic bona fides, Romney would underscore the impression that those bona fides are pretty weak.

(4) Romney can raise extra cash. He probably can, but by itself this is not a reason to select him. A veep nominee is more important than an ATM, so Romney has to offer McCain something else. If he can, his fundraising prowess is really just a supplement.

McCain has an asset that Hillary simply lacked. He can outsource the attacks, handing the duties over to the veep pick. McCain can go back to being the maverick straight talker while the vice-presidential nominee can go after Obama. Never in his political career has Obama encountered an opponent who can land a blow as well as Romney.

This is why Mitt Romney might make a good veep candidate.

I'm pulling for Romney also. *They* keep claiming that he would push away the Evangelical vote. No way! The other options put forth really bring nothing to offer.

Romney is okay. I actually like him better than McCain, but that ticket as a whole doesn't do it for me. McCain would have to pick someone great to get my support. Romney is good, but not great.

n2...who, in your opinion, is 'great'? I see no one...on either side...who I would come close to considering 'great'. It's really depressing.

Tom Coburn.. But McCain and Coburn would go together about as well as oil and water.

Coburn would rock. So would Inhofe.

But I was actually thinking of someone like Alaska's governor Sarah Palin or maybe Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. Young, fresh, conservative, someone new and not entrenched in politics. Or if he wanted more experience, maybe someone like Mike Pence.

I'm sure there are others, but Mitt has enough problems himself when it comes to satisfying the entire conservative base. And although he is an improvement over McCain, the campaign would be better with at least one real conservative on the ticket.

I am behind Palin for V.P. I clipped a profile about her a few months back. She is plain-spoken, conservative, a mother, and very easy to like.

I have a great picture of my wife and kids with Governor Palin and Chief Justice John Roberts. No that is a ticket I could get behind. Actually I was thinking, Palin and Jindal in 2012

If we're wise, we'll keep all of our conservatives in Congress and Governors around the country in place for the next four years.

Another reason Romney would be a good pick, is that it would be highly risky for Obama to trash the Mormon religion, but if he were foolish enough to do that, there would be a big backlash against him.
