POPSLearn Out Loud This site is fabulous and one of my favourites. When you get tired, why not just lean back and let someone else do the reading for a change. LOTS of stuff here, to make you smarter. Go rummage through the titles. Tons of stuff for FREE and all downloadable. :) I clipped just a few titles at the end (until I ran out of characters) to show you what sort of stuff they offer. Enjoy! .:)

POPSThe Courage to Live Consciously I wasn't sure which was better, Steve Pavlina's article on living your live with courage, or the quotes he used to illustrate his ideas. Either way, worth reading. How would you live if you had no fear at all? You'd still have your intelligence and common sense to safely navigate around any real dangers, but without feeling the emotion of fear, would you be more willing to take risks, especially when the worst case wouldn't actually hurt you at all? Would you speak up more often, talk to more strangers, ask for more sales, dive headlong into those ambitious projects you've been dreaming about? What if you even learned to enjoy the things you currently fear? What kind of difference would that make in your life?

POPSDo we want a truly liberal society? A liberal society embraces pluralism, in the sense that it does not seek to impose any one vision of what it means to be virtuous or to lead a good life. Within such a society, approval is commonly expressed for John Stuart Mill’s view that “experiments in living” should not be merely tolerated, but actually welcomed and celebrated (Mill 1974: 120). As Max Charlesworth writes, “In a liberal society personal autonomy, the right to choose one’s own way of life for oneself, is the supreme value.” He adds that this includes what he calls ethical pluralism: members of the society are free to hold a wide range of moral, religious, and non-religious positions, with no core values or public morality that it is the law’s business to enforce (Charlesworth 1993: 1). Accordingly, a liberal society makes a sharp distinction between the sphere of personal moral views and that of the law; no one can use the law to impose their beliefs on others (16-20).

POPSGeneral Sanchez Blasts Bush's Iraq Nightmare Sanchez continues, There is nothing going on today in Washington that would give us hope. Our commanders on the ground will continue to make progress and provide time for the development of a grand strategy. That will be wasted effort as we have seen repeatedly since 2003. In the meantime, our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines will continue to die. Military leaders, one after another are condemning this adminstration and war. Yet the ego-maniacal war criminal in the White House continues to send Americans to their death for no other reason than to enrich his war profiteer buddies.

POPSAre you a Patriot or a Loyalist? For anyone who dares to call peaceful protesters wackos or delusional, I would dare to differ and perhaps even call them cowards or traitors. The whole article is worth a read. These considerations would aptly apply to anyone, anywhere and in any country. Always.

POPSI'm No Hero It takes a special kind of courage to stand up for what is right when it endangers your life. I hope that Irena Sendlerowa wins the Nobel peace prize.

POPSHow a boy born with no ears can hear again - and beat the bullies His ears clip on to metal attachments on the side of his head. Joshua takes them on and off as simply as someone putting on glasses. "I wouldn't say I was delighted with them, I am completely gobsmacked," he said. "I can't believe how good they are." His mother added: "He has been full of himself since then. All the staring has stopped. I could never imagine the ears could be so good."

POPSCollateral Damage "But I would be doing Iraqi women and Zangana's "City of Windows" a disservice by solely focusing on suffering and their role as victims. Because despite the web of destruction, violence and repression Iraqi women face on a daily basis, we must not forget their acts of courage and empowerment despite the hardships they are facing"
