POPSSally Kern Bigotry Here she is damned by her own words. What she says is not new. Bigots like her have been saying this for a long time. What is new is that now we can cast their words into the light of day for all to see. And this person is an elected official! Shame on you Oklahoma.

POPSBush's Legacy? Torture I have nothing but contempt for this man. In fact, I actually have serious doubts concerning his sanity. His reign can't be over soon enough.

POPSHope For the Future While the future of this election is still undecided, I catch a glimmer of hope by the irrelevance of race among young people. I've fought on the sidelines since the sixties for equality for all peoples and it seems a cultural shift is occurring. For a substantial segment of the population to be unconcerned about race is a collossal breakthrough in societal change. I think it was understood that this was a generational problem and would not vanish at the drop of a coin. Reality shows that racism is still rampant, particularly among less educated peoples however this election has demonstrated what I'd view as substantial progress in large scale shifts in the countries views. This pleases me beyond words.

POPSMy God Can Beat Up Your God For CM regulars who have accused me on beating up on Christians I offer this clip about Hindu militants and their strife with Christians in India. Ain't religion fun...

POPSThe Rack? Some Think It's For Fun In a clear and unambiguous attempt to protect the administration from the possibility of being charged with war crimes, Mukasey proclaims that he "can't decide" if waterboarding is torture. What a farce. How utterly transparent. Why is there not more outrage concerning this transparent attempt to abet a criminal administration?

POPSArmegeddon Around the Corner? Marty Kaplan makes fun of poor Huck. Check the link for the other convincing evidence that the Huckster is who Kaplan seems to think he is.

POPSBush Lies Again...and again...and again Make no mistake. Bush's real reason for this veto is his indebtedness to his rich friends in the insurance industry. He doesn't care about health care. He cares about profits and an economy based on the doctrines of Milton Friedman. Bush even made remarks to this the last time he vetoed this legislation saying that he would never allow "socialized" medicine in this country. What a dork.

POPSSad Story - Anorexia While not a fan of celebrity news this story caught my eye. How sad for a 20 year and her parents. BTW, for American readers, 4 1/2 stones is 63 pounds. Heart breaking.

POPSCesca on Bush and the Budget Bob Cesca's comment about Bush's political machine had me laughing out loud. Read the whole piece for a fine bit of political humor.

POPSAmerican's Short Memory The image of Bush and Abdullah, strolling hand and hand is firmly etched into my memory. Does anyone else recall that? Or the natiionality of most of the 9/11 hijackers? Wow! Truly shows the power the "free market" has over this administration. Profit over people should be their mantra.

POPSPrayer Won't Work I don't care for Snow's politics or for the administration that he is the mouthpiece for. But the fact remains that I am saddened by the news of his reoccurring cancer. Any compassionate person would be. I know it seems over the top to be critical of others attempts at consolation by offering to pray for someone but the fact remains that it simply is useless. Better would be for Bush to have actually listened to reputable scientists and allowed funding for stem cell research instead of bending over for his right wing masters. And this doesn't even address the problems with health care in the US.

POPSWith God on Her Side Another Monica scandal, this one of a different sort. Here we have another Bushie manipulating the system for political purposes. Honestly, she probably thought that she was "doing the Right thing for America" (capitalization inserted on purpose). I can't help but speculate that her "education" played a key roll in her strange ethical standing.
