I'm fairly certain these are good people but they surely have some strange ideas.

Florida Creationist Shows Off
AtlLiberal

Of course not all Floridians are this abjectly stupid. Although recent polls indicate that close to 50% prefer creationism over evolution. Take a peek at what a lack of science education can accomplish.

Predictable Huckabee Win

Frankly, I'm not surprised in the least. The state that tried to set back the teaching of biology 150 years has given a rousing endorsement to the most biblical candidate in quite a while. How does commander and preacher sound? The inauguration should be fun. I'm all set to watch Dino, the Jesus Horse, leading the parade down Pennsylvania Ave.

How absurd for any religious group to expect for persons of differing faiths or no faith at all to adhere to their quaint religious practices. It reminds me of the resistance to teach evolution in public schools or the attempts to force religion into the public arena. Both spheres have a similar lack of credibility and rationale. Kudos to Wikipedia for not kowtowing to religious fanatics.

Iowa Helps Democratic Party

When I discovered that Iowa had chosen Mike Huckabee as the Republican nominee my little heart took a leap with joy. Who better than a Bible-thumping, evolution denying , anti-choice, far right priest/candidate for the Dems to be running against. In many ways he is a caricature of Bush although he does appear to be more articulate.

Hmm, Astrology or Astronomy?

I seem to recall a certain president mouthing these same sentiments. I suspect history may show him to be at least one of the most ignorant people to hold such important office.

Floridians See the Light?

I just clipped another article concerning this topic and then came across this article. Well, that was a short lived controversy. It seems the Florida creationists sipped from the reality cup just in time. Good news.

Florida Religionists Cling to Myth
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  12-22-2007
As in Texas, Florida is also debating whether or not to include Intelligent Design in its science curriculum. Following the Dover Pennsylvania trial you'd think these yahoos would have gotten the word. ID is not science. We'll have to wait and see if they cling to their Bronze Age myths or join the rest of us who live in a reality based world.

Whoa. The implications from this will be enormous. If this project succeeds expect a concerted campaign of denial and attack from the religious conservatives.

A more fitting honor for this valued museum can't be imagined. Perhaps this puts them into contention for the coveted Most Ignorant Concept in the World Award?

Houston, We Have A Problem...
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  12-13-2007    1
A majority of Americans cling to a fairy tale to describe the origins of man (and women). To have their fantasies threatened evidently scares them to death. Because of this threat to their faith they lie without blinking an eye. Using their twisted logic that religion is not their motivation for squeezing Intelligent Design into science class falls apart when applied to other disciplines. There is no national push to teach astrology as an alternative to astronomy. There is no push to teach alchemy alongside chemistry. The only push is to teach Creationism (in the thin guise of ID) alongside evolution. And the drumbeat of lies from the IDers continues. Their discredited "science" (see Dover Penn trial) continues to be their best hope of getting god into the classroom and they won't stop until this is accomplished.
