This excellent article (of which the clip is merely a teaser) spells out in a logical and reasonable fashion what is so wrong about the inclusion of a religious motif in the command structure of the military.

    AtlLiberal
    by AtlLiberal  1-13-2009    6
Like many, I watched with a combination of fascination and horror as the outgoing President offered his version of his mea culpa to the American public. Never before have I seen such a concentrated display of lying, self-deception, spinning and hubris. Did I mention lying? Less than a week to go. Good riddance.

    AtlLiberal
    by AtlLiberal  8-15-2008    4
I seriously suspect this man is insane. He lied about the Iraq mess, cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis plus our own service men and women, bankrupt his nation and stained American prestige at home and abroad. If anyone does not have the right to accuse anyone else of "bullying and intimidation" it's this man.

    Failed Oilman Bush Acts Again
    AtlLiberal
    by AtlLiberal  7-14-2008    2
He was a failure as an oilman and as a President. More offshore drilling wil have no effect on the price of oil and most sane people know this. One could therefore speculate if this is driven more by George's twisted relationship with his father or just another example of his gut feeling thinking. Next year can't come soon enough! This man has done enough damage already.

Like many Americans, I had lost hope that Bush would ever be brought to justice for his lies to the American people and his abuse of the Constitution. I don't wish to jinx things but is this the beginning of hope that Bush will now be held accountable for his crimes? We'll have to wait and see.

Aside from the immoral aspect of torture, why has no one questioned the idiotic Republican claim that they have prevented terrorists attacks since 9/11? Seems to me that close to 4,000 American soldiers and by some estimates close to 1,000,000 Iraqis have died as the result of terrorism. I suppose it depends on your definition of terrorist.

    Bush Lies Again...and again...and again
    AtlLiberal
    by AtlLiberal  12-13-2007    6
Make no mistake. Bush's real reason for this veto is his indebtedness to his rich friends in the insurance industry. He doesn't care about health care. He cares about profits and an economy based on the doctrines of Milton Friedman. Bush even made remarks to this the last time he vetoed this legislation saying that he would never allow "socialized" medicine in this country. What a dork.

    by AtlLiberal  11-9-2007    4
The legislative Dems, while not full fledged vertebrates yet, have shown signs of awakening. This spit in King Bush's eye is a start. Yet there is wonder among many Democrats what exactly the plan is? They want action, and they want it now. This burying of the Impeachment Resolution has pissed off a lot of Dems and this doesn't really make up for what is perceived as too much politicking and not enough doing. Now the wait is on for what's to follow. It doesn't appear that the leadership will listen yet to the people's voice.

The meat of the controversy is Bush not wanting to disappoint his Insurance Indutry buddies who are raking in fortunes. And aren't federal employees covered under a "federalized" health care system? I don't think Bush even cares to hide the truth of his incompetence any longer. Every day he becomes more and more detached from reality.

    AtlLiberal
    by AtlLiberal  10-17-2007    3
Republicans again appear to be without a moral compass. They are presented with a program that has been demonstrated to work (SCHIP) yet they cling to their political dogma of privatization and shrinking of government. I find it stunning that they so hate the idea of government actually helping citizens that they would fight against a proven winner.

The thin lipped little liar is spewing forth again. It kind of reminds me of "I did not have sex with this woman" but that is where the comparison stops. Clinton lied about sex which had no relevance to how he governed the country. Bush lies about torture. This has troubling and far reaching consequences for this country. What a weasel.
