POPSThe Wired Presidency: Can Obama Really Reboot the White House? Any one know where to go to read thoughtful dialog on how Web 2.0 technologies can improve gov't? Seems to me there are at least two issue threads that need at least as much attention as how 21st century tools can enhance dialogue between gov't and citizens: 1) Can Gov't be more transparent while simultaneously not eroding its citizens' privacy and safety; and 2) What should the model for delivering public services be? Also, I'm interested in others' thoughts on the following: "Rapid advances in technology show us what CAN be done, but it takes more than just success in the marketplace to know what SHOULD be done."

POPSOur Daily Bread - Serve or Die Service is the only duty of a Christian. We cannot save ourselves--Jesus did that. We cannot live a holy life--it's the ministry of the Holy Spirit, dwelling in us, that brings about holiness. All we can do through our own will is to decide to serve God.

POPSThe Casket And The Jewel - Our Daily Bread
We are not preaching about ourselves. Our message is that Jesus Christ is Lord. He also sent us to be your servants. The Scriptures say, "God commanded light to shine in the dark." Now God is shining in our hearts to let you know that his glory is seen in Jesus Christ. We are like clay jars in which this treasure is stored. The real power comes from God and not from us. --2 Corinthians 4:5-7 CEV How many non-believers have been turned off by church members who were unkind, critical or who just don't walk their faith outside of the church building? How many churches aren't welcoming places to outsiders? How many souls have been lost because we who call ourselves Christians don't look like people they want to imitate? The Bible makes it clear that that's not what God has in mind for His church. Jesus said: "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven."--Matthew 5:16 MKJV How is your light today?

POPSDinner With A Perfect Stranger Something different today! One of my troops--a new Christian--gave me this book to read yesterday. And two others who had read it saw it on my desk and we had a great conversation about it. My opinion: A fascinating (and accurate) presentation of the Christian message. A quick read--only 100 small pages with big print. A gentle and interesting book that can be given anyone who wants to know more about Christ, and what the real Christian message is, or for those who think they know, but don't really! God bless you all! Love, Me

POPSA Timely Word - Our Daily Bread
Let's be honest: It's far tougher to live as a Christian than it is to "be" a Christian. The majority of Americans who profess to believe in God identify themselves as Christians--and that's basically what it takes to "be" Christian; to declare yourself as one. Yet the evidence mounts all around that far too few people are living a Christian life. Living as a Christian is far tougher than going to church regularly, refraining from obvious social vices like ___(fill in your favorite here), or even praying and worshiping regularly. It's transforming your life, your speech, your thoughts--everything--to conform to the will of God. The reason so many non-Christians think we are hypocrites is they see so few of us living our faith. Ephesians 4:17-32 contains God's instructions to us for living as Christians should--not only forsaking sin, but serving and encouraging others--Christians or not. Do we have the courage, the strength--yea, the faith--to live as real Christians?

POPSYour Quiet Time With God, Parts 5-7 - The Word For Today If you're like me, a Christian who from time to time finds the "cares of this world" intruding on your time with God, you may want to take a look at this. I also commend it to anyone else who looking for no-frills practical steps on improving your spiritual life. One part of this series helped me come out of a dry period in my Christian experience. Now, after having read Part 5 of "Your Quiet Time With God," I've found it provided some simple insights and advice that helped me revive my prayer life. Some were things I needed to be reminded of, some were "gee, why didn't I think of that?" moments, and some didn't move me at all. But God created each of us as individuals, so the parts that bless you may be different than those that helped me. I'm making a public post of the links for the whole 7 part series. I hope this blesses and encourages you as much as it has me! This is the links to parts 5-7
