POPSThis President does not obey the will of his people As I documented in the excerpt from A Tragic Legacy published by Crooks & Liars, neoconservatives who seek to persuade the President of his obligation to wage war with Iran do so by appealing to his religous obligations to act against Evil and in service of his messianic self-perception as delivering "God's gift" to the world. As The Weekly Standard's Irwin Stelzer wrote about yet another right-wing gathering with the President earlier this year:

POPSHoward Stern Supports Gay Joey Bootz I don't get people who really hate Howard Stern. If you listen to him for a couple days, you figure out, he's really got a heart of gold. I guess its a question of being familiar enough to know when he's kidding.

POPSFT.com: Europeans see US as Threat to PEACE.!!! The level of European concern about the US has remained broadly consistent over the past year. In 11 previous polls dating back to July 2006 the proportion of respondents considering the US a threat to stability has ranged between 28 per cent and 38 per cent. The latest poll comes in the wake of the “surge” that has increased US forces in Iraq to about 160,000 troops, but which has not been accompanied by political breakthroughs or a dramatic reduction of violence.

POPSPolls about a Black President
It always bothers me when I read something like the paragraph above wirtten by Newsweek. The newsweek poll asks whether "the country is ready to elect an African-American president." People will answer depending on their perception of how ready the country is. Therefore the 41 percent who said no maybe skeptical about their fellow countrymen's prejudice, but there's no reason to think that that number is prejudiced. I've noticed in coversations with people who are skeptical about voting for Obama for race reasons, its most often because they don't believe he could win a majority vote because of everyone else, so why back a losing horse? What's sad is I would guess that polls that ask if an individual would vote for a black person instead of whether they think everyone else would, you'd find that blacks have a better chance than what articles like this suggest. Unfortunately, these articles perputuate the idea that black candidates don't have a chance and reduces voter confidence.

POPSWhen Did We as a People Become So Cold Hearted? It is unimaginable to me that U.S. officials are comfortable with placing the monetary value of a human life that has been take in war. All of these people are civilians and have died as so-called "collateral damage." The U.S. does not want to even acknowledge the number of Iraqi civilian deaths that we continue to cause in this occupation. But imagine actually having a legal term that translates as "useless person," or the equivalent.

POPSMy Bridesmaid Dress I ordered my bridesmaid dress today. Personally, I think it's ugly. After an extra length charge, shipping, and tax it ended up costing $320 before alterations or appropriate underwear.

POPSKids are Depressing I am one of the happy people! I have cats instead! *LOL* Just kidding! (not really) but I know there are some people, who can suffer tremendously from a lot of "child-related" illnesses, varying from post-partem depression to stress to empty nest syndrome. This study is not new, but it surprised me nonetheless to read. I would actually have guessed the opposite was the case.
