POPSPersepolis I went to see this at the cinema last night. And I absolutely loved it. It's political. It's critical. It's naive. It's full of wisdom. It's funny. It's sad. Its message is simple. Its message is deep. Just wonderful!

POPSNew Film Anti-Religious? I can't remember any atheist attacks on the multitude of religious based films that we've been assaulted by over the years (except possibly for the Christian porn movie, The Passion of the Christ). Now the Christian censors are frantic that the movie's tame portrayal of the books it is based on will be too watered down. Their reasoning is that with the meeker film version people will be persuaded to buy the book and that is where the real god bashing occurs. So in their warped view of reality, the film is simply a feature length commercial for the book series. It's no surprise when one realizes that the major criticism for the film and books comes from the Catholic League. A group not known for its tolerance.

POPSFirst - it was toilet computing, now - bath! Just imagine bending down to wash your toes with one hand, while the other reaches the 'buy' button after you've selected how many shares of Google to buy on fidelity.com. Practically new form of exercise. Call it 'bath yoga'.

POPSStanley Kubrick's files -New archives reveal the film-maker's public and private worlds "... My main interest lies along these broad areas naturally assuming great plot and character. 1. The reasons for believing in the existence of intelligent extra-terrestrial life. 2. The impact (and perhaps even lack on impact in some quarters) such discovery would have on earth in the near future. 3. A space probe with a landing and exploration of the Moon and Mars. Would you consider coming sooner with a view to a meeting, the purpose of which would be to determine whether an idea might exist or arise which could sufficiently interest both of us enough to want to collaborate on a screenplay?”

POPSThe Celluoid Closet "But by far the most tortured depiction of gays was The Children's Hour (1962). A spiteful child falsely accuses Shirley McLaine and Audrey Hepburn of something stronger than friendship; as it happens, one of the women indeed feels lesbian attractions. Shirley McLaine pours out her torment and self-hatred in one particularly riveting scene, and later hangs herself." OMG! Hangs herself? That's a positive message, eh? I remember going to the movie theatre and seeing "The Boy's In the Band" and I was underage and my parents were mortified! (I went with a friend and her mother who was deemed certifiably insane by my parents for "exposing" me to these sorts of ideas). "In The Boys In The Band, one character movingly asks "If we can only learn to stop hating ourselves". By showing gays as comic figures, tortured perverts, token villains, or AIDS victims, cinema does little to encourage any feelings of self-esteem.

POPS2 from 25 Examples of Good Urban Design The future of the world lies in cities, not suburbs. But our souls remain bound to the natural world. The integration of the two will be the greatest art form of the 21st century.

POPSSite listing 100's of free Movie/TV sites This is the most comprehensive listing of free movie sites to date. I received a lot of comments from other clippers of sites to go to from the clipmark for a single movie/t.v. site I posted. This pretty much lists them all plus many, many more. Enjoy!
