ClipShare is a php script, or set of server-based tools, that lets you host your own YouTube clone. Easier that coding yourself, but cost $199. A good option.

This is a very techie "How To" using open-source tools to make a hearty YouTube clone. It scares me, but if you have a coder in your IT department who can take on a task like this, don't overlook it as an option!

RealityDigital has a product called "Opus" that is a social media video hosting solution. I don't know much about it, nor the price, but it is a resource for anyone investigating their own YouTube clone.

Here is another way to make your own YouTube. This one is hosted off-site, and is ad-supported (but you can replace them with your own for a fee). Worth a look for academics who may not have the IT team to support one hosted on-site.

One way to roll your own YouTube clone for your establishment. This one runs about $300, plus any server requirements or add-ons. Still, worth considering. More finds to follow....

DotSub Provides Subtitles for web videos
    ITedu
    by ITedu  5-15-2007
If your University is committed to providing accessibility, then take a look at this episode of Rocketboom. The subject is DotSub, a (currently) free website where you can upload and subtitle videos for the hearing impaired. Imagine the lost audience on YouTube alone! This is a great tool, and worth a close look to those considering podcasting lectures and presentations.
