The proverbial elephant in the room. The tragic thing is that not only is overpopulation catastrophic for the environment, but it will also be pretty bad for the people who constitute the over population.      The problem is people value money more than life, or even it seems survival. Now that so many people are in debt and inflation bites, perhaps attitudes towards money might change e.g. having a lot and / or spending a lot will be considered vulgar and greedy (which it is), rather than the ultimate measure of success. Then something might be done about the overconsumption which is killing the planet.

Report Finds Deforestation Offers Very Little Money Compared To Potential Financial Benefits

Right on! Finally! Perhaps, it is not too late. The same logic would have to apply to the owners of forests everywhere. It would make woodland an even better investment than it is now. Properly worked woodland can already combine income and capital appreciation far in excess of financial assets. The only risk is fire. So it would be worth investing in the best fire prevention measures and constant monitoring.
