About me
My husband and I have been married for nearly 41 years. We have 3 adult (kinda') children and 5 awesome grandchildren.

My Christian faith and tennis are large in my life. For the last 19 yrs. I've been the caregiver of my MIL, my Dad, my Grandchildren, and now my Mother. It has been hard and the internet allows my mind to escape for a while.
Why I use Clipmarks
There is always something interesting to read. It provides a great way to communicate ideas and opinions and learn new things. Besides, I've been at Clipmarks for so long it's like *family*.....though in my family (even the extended ones) we are all, politically, of the same mind. :~)

What's Wrong with Tim Tebow?
jatfla
by jatfla  12-6-2011    3
Traditional America is no longer tolerated or accepted. How fast did this happen?? When did we become something we never were? When did we, as a Nation/Media, mock those of fervent Christian Faith? I know we were busy being citizens, parents, productive citizens...but really!!! How did we let this happen?? Yes, he's a sports figure but you know he represents more than Sports. It goes much deeper than this. :~/ So, now what?

Tebow's Religon
jatfla
by jatfla  12-3-2011
(continue on page 2) While generations of Christians have shared the commitment of Tim Tebow, this current generation can not accept the FACT that, for him, it's real. They mock, they scorn, they psychoanalyze, etc.... We'll see how his football career turns out but I have no doubt about his personal life of faith. Even if he falls/fails (which is not unknown or unexpected in the Christian Life) the core is there. Time will tell if he continues to have an impact on the Sports World. So far, they can't seem to leave him alone. Gee....I wonder why?

Panetta: Israel must get to the "damn" peace table
jatfla
by jatfla  12-2-2011
Unless these comments have been taken out of context (and they don't appear to be) I am offended on so many levels that I can hardly type. Israel has been to the West's "peace table" so many times that it's ridiculous. They never give enough!!! Only until they are annihilated as a Nation and a people will all in the Middle East, most in Europe and some in the US be satisfied. Mr. Panetta...you can take your statements to wherever but Israel needs to be done with whatever "peace talks" the World might propose. Barak gave everything to Arafat and Arafat rejected it...all the while M. Albright was chasing after him to reconsider. The Arabs don't want peace; they want Israel wiped off the map. You, Mr. Panetta, (and this Administration) have sided with them. However, you do not represent the majority of informed/thinking Americans and certainly not the Israelis. Now, explain to me again...who is appeasing for the sake of oil? Instead of making the US energy independent, *SOME

GOP Debate: Paul Calls Patriot Act 'Unpatriotic'; Newt Fires Back
jatfla
by jatfla  11-22-2011
I'm not sure this will show up but it speaks volumes to me. Our "Liberty" provided by the Constitution should not be a tool used by our enemies against us. Newt's answer most pointedly defines mine. Speaker Gingrich may (does?) have "baggage" but to me he is a clear thinker who isn't muddied by crossed and confused American leadership values. It's about the US and our security/safety as a Country. If you put the emphasis where it should be then, I think, our Liberty will be secure too. In honesty I haven't watched this Debate. I already know what each will say and where their emphasis is as well as their weaknesses are. M. Bachman has always impressed me as a strong Conservative while Speaker Gingrich is more experienced at bargaining and getting things accomplished. I think they'd make a great GOP team.

Polls: Gingrich Grows on GOP Voters
jatfla
by jatfla  11-11-2011
I support Gingrich because he is smarter and more knowledgeable about the ways of the World than all the other candidates, I know that he has a lot of baggage to surmount. While Bachman, Cain, Romney, Santorum are pro-American I'm not sure they are all that qualified or would be able to come to the Table with enough wisdom or .... for lack of a better word...resolve (not what I really wanted to say. :~/ It is going to take a really tough person to deal with our problems and Congress. I believe he is Tough and knows how to negotiate for our good. If he stands with Israel against the EU and all the rest while meeting the criteria that I *think* he has.....he's my man. Awwww heck!!! Who, really, is up to the task??

Killing any progress proposed for energy independence for the US seems to be the theme of the Administration and a do-nothing Senate. Are the "greenies" and radical environmentalists going to be allowed to continue to stall everything that would increase our economic productivity? Environment, my foot! At every turn they want to begger us, make us like Europe, and create a Socialist climate on every level. How many jobs would be created with just this one project let alone others that have been proposed? Stagnation. These radical, irrational Left-minded thinking people are one of the main reason for our economic down-turn.

The Media can't handle an exceptional person who performs exceptionally. Especially when they have authentic traditional values. He's a mere man whose talent and heart and courage should be admired. The Decline of American History in Public Schools
jatfla
by jatfla  10-22-2011
This article will be read by those who already know the truth of it. Only homeschoolers and individuals will take it upon themselves to delve into the facts and legacy of America. The United States has a laudable and honorable history lived out by idealistic, hardworking, God-fearing, (and yes sometimes greedy and self-promoting) human beings living within their own times. I was not shocked to learn one afternoon as I walked home with our 10 yr. old G-son that he knew about recycling, who said "I have a dream", global warming and that the earth has too many people, etc. When I asked him who Thomas Jefferson was; he didn't know. George Washington -- he was a President. Columbus -- he killed Indians. Hitler --- he was bad and had a mustache. Stalin -- no. Pilgrims -- the Indians helped them put fish in the ground. Thomas Edison -- no. You get the picture and probably would have similar answers. So sad because if ever there was a time in which we needed to know our History

"In Afghanistan, a young American soldier with a locked and loaded M4 assures a band of nervous Pashtun mothers that her platoon will make sure the Taliban don't come and butcher their daughters for the sin of attending school."
