POPSIlluminating Beauty, Illustrating Harmony Interactive Show at the source. Illuminating Beauty, Illustrating Harmony: A Gallery celebrating the 25th Anniversary of The Institute of Ismaili Studies ...invites the viewer to the large and complex subject of the artistic and intellectual heritage of Islam. Ranging in date from the ninth to the nineteenth century, and produced in lands as far westward as Tunisia and as far eastward as China and India, the artefacts reflect the great diversity and range of a distinctive visual culture with its own unique artistic language. ‘Illuminating’ and ‘illustrating’ are appropriate from with the perspectives of calligraphy and the arts of the book, and are also linked to notions of knowledge and learning in Islam. A significant number of items in this exhibition are, therefore, related to the arts of the book, in particular the Qur’an.

POPS♫ Cellist Jacqueline du Pré ♥ - glimpses of eternity The embedded video is linked to my Jacqueline du Pré playlist on YouTube. (Overall duration: almost 1,5 h.) Jacqueline du Pré and Kathleen Ferrier - these two great British artists died when they had scarcely reached the fifth decade of their lifes. Their personalities will never be forgotten, and their art is living on. "Teach us, sprite or bird, What sweet thoughts are thine; I have never heard Praise of love or wine That panted forth a flood Of rapture so divine." (P.B. Shelley - To a Skylark) (See also morgainelefaye's Jacqueline du Pré clip .) Addendum: J. du P.'s biography on Oxford DNB podcast

POPSVisible Narratives: Understanding Visual Organization Generally, the hierarchy of a web page is based on distinctions between the content, navigation, and supporting information on a page. Within each of these sections further distinctions can also be made. A general web page hierarchy (from highest to lowest importance) may look like the following: Content * Page title * Subsection title * Embedded links * Supplementary information (captions, etc.) Navigation * Location indicator * Top-level navigation options * Sub-navigation options * Trace route (breadcrumbs) Supporting elements * Site identifier * Site-wide utilities (shopping cart, site map, etc.) * Footer information (privacy policy, contact info, etc.)

POPSDer Tod und das Mädchen (Death and the maiden) Matthias Claudius | English Translation Das Mädchen: | The Maiden: Vorüber! Ach, vorüber! | Pass by! Oh, pass by! Geh, wilder Knochenmann! | Go away, fierce man of bone! Ich bin noch jung, geh Lieber! | I am still young, go my dear! Und rühre mich nicht an. | And do not touch me. Der Tod: | Death: Gib deine Hand, du schön und zart Gebild! | Give me your hand, you beautiful and delicate form! Bin Freund, und komme nicht, zu strafen. | I am a friend, and am not come to punish. Sei gutes Muts! ich bin nicht wild, | Be of good cheer! I am not savage, Sollst sanft in meinen Armen schlafen! | You will sleep softly in my arms! Wikipedia Perhaps there is a better translation? Dt. Gebild should be translated as creature rather than as form .

POPSMusical Thought Thomas Carlyle described poetry, too, as ;musical thought'. Perhaps music, poetry, discursive thinking, art, concepts and ideas are all from the same 'place'?
