Dinosaur evolutionary tree unveiled
Mohir
by Mohir  7-24-2008
It remained at that low level throughout the following Cretaceous period, a time of plenty in Earth's terrestrial history in which flowering plants, lizards, snakes, birds and mammals all became much more numerous. Dinosaurs apparently did not take advantage of the abundant food supply that emerged during the Cretaceous Terrestrial Revolution. "Our supertree allows us to look for unusual patterns across the whole of dinosaurs for the first time," says Lloyd. "It is the most comprehensive picture ever produced of how dinosaurs evolved."

This Sober Life

by JohnWaterman  7-20-2008    16
I don't miss asking, "Did I say that?" I don't miss crying on train tracks, don't miss not knowing where to start, don't miss questioning, "Am I falling apart?" I don't miss counting prescription pills, don't miss wondering, "Would this jump kill?" I don't miss being angry and not knowing why, don't miss yelling up to God, "Just let me die!" I don't miss not sleeping night after night, don't miss not having an appetite. I don't miss puking and I sure don't miss quitting, I figure by now you get the point that I'm setting.

Bertrand Russell quotes

by JohnWaterman  7-19-2008    6
 # This idea of weapons of mass extermination is utterly horrible and is something which no one with one spark of humanity can tolerate. I will not pretend to obey a government which is organising a mass massacre of mankind. # “Not enough evidence, God, not enough evidence.” (Russell’s reply when asked what he would say if he died and found himself confronted by God, demanding to know why Russell had not believed in him) # Many orthodox people speak as though it were the business of skeptics to disprove received dogmas rather than of dogmatists to prove them. This is, of course, a mistake. If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the p
