POPSMore on UC's budget situation and involuntary furloughs From CUE: The Coalition of University Employees (CUE) is the independent, member-run union elected by clerical employees throughout the UC system to represent them in November, 1997. CUE consists entirely of UC clerical employees, the people who keep the University going and make it effective. We bargain collectively with the University and individually when clerical employees are having disputes with their particular employers. CUE encourages participation. Important issues include: * fairly distributed wages that compensate for what we have lost to inflation, * preservation of benefits, expansion to include better childcare provisions, etc., * job security, including meaningful seniority rights and the conversion of casual employees to career status, * improving the quality of our work lives, assuring that UC's work rules are reasonable and necessary, * equity, including affirmative action and equal pay for comparable worth.
