    Has American Society Gone Insane?
    Spiritualmonkey

Diabetes, obesity, heart disease, physical weakness, osteoporosis, asthma, bodily misalignment and chronic pain... I'm fully in favor of adding depression and mental illness to the list of ways our society makes us unhealthy. The very nature of how we live is unhealthy.

The person who linked to this suggested replacing the jelly with Nutella, which sounds really good. A commenter later in the thread added, "I just happened to have some bacon, Hershey's bars and a kaiser roll handy. I tested it with just the above ingredients. Then I added some butter. Then some peanut butter. The complete version was excellent. So were the other partial versions. Ok, let's be honest here. Chocolate is awesome. Bacon too. add anything you want to that combo and you are good to go and considered a gourmet cook as far as I am concerned."

If you're a cat person, you'll probably find this funny (I laughed out loud). If you're not a cat person, you'll probably find us cat people insane.

The VanOakhatten sounds good (Bulleit bourbon and four bitters? yum!), but vodka martini? Pabst Blue Ribbon? Long Island Iced Tea? Come on, people, let's use SOME creativity here.

We've been using a tennis ball for doing this -- self-administered massage of the fascia on the bottom of the feet -- but this looks like a more elegant implementation of the same idea. Massaging the fascia on the bottom of the feet can have a surprisingly large effect on increasing one's flexibility. A simple experiment to try: Sit on the floor with your legs extended out flat in front of you and reach forward to touch your toes (a seated forward bend). Notice how far you're able to reach. Now massage the fascia on the bottom of your feet, either with a ball (tennis, racquet, or the like) or by hand. Really knead the soles of your feet. Now do another seated forward bend. How far can you reach now? When I tried this the first time, it increased my stretch by about 2 inches. Fascia are fascinating.

Bargain Bite: Muracci's Japanese Curry & Grill in SF's Financial District

Sounds well worth checking out. From the thumbnail photos, I can already tell they have matcha roll cake with azuki beans in the filling - yum! But I'm having trouble making a name like "Muracci" fit what I know about Japanese pronunciation and writing. Oh, wait - it would work if it were spelled "Murachi" (mu-ra-chi all being Japanese phonemes). I wonder why the Italianesque spelling?

Why is it so hard for people to realize that in the age of Google, you will be found out if you plagiarize? And for pity's sake, it's the easiest thing in the world to start with a recipe, customize it to your taste, and then give the customized recipe (with a nod to the original).

Don't eat fat-free, sugar-free, low-carb ersatz food-like products. Eat food, not too much, mostly plants. Don't take "fat-burning enzyme" pills, waste your money on a Thighmasater, or think that time on the Wii Fit will make you healthy. Walk places, climb stairs, chase your kids or grandkids or nieces & nephews around, go for a run, play basketball, or anything else that's real movement and activity. There's no substitute for the real thing, and the world would be a much poorer place if there were.
