POPSChanges Approved Allowing Hundreds of New Domain Names It's about time! They are also looking to clamp down on the "domain tasters" who tie up domain names seeing what the traffic is for certain names, and then they buy the domain and hold out for the highest bidders. This is why a lot of brand names are at strange named domains ... their domain name was already bought by an investor, and they would not pay the price to buy the domain name.

POPSInternet Plans Helps Man Commit Suicide This is sad ... but I know first hand that when someone makes the decision to kill themselves, they will do whatever it takes to accomplish it. The internet is a boon for any activity you want to engage in ... including (I suppose) your own death. If someone wants to die, and is ill , I believe that is a different situation. This man was depressed because of his family wanting him to move. I would have hoped there was another way to work this out, other than his death by suicide! Will this be the new way of the future? (See cartoon from "Futurama")

POPSAdult Theme Movie Trailers - The Web Has It All If you don't want your kids to see things, keep them off the internet! That's about the whole name of the game with parental censorship. If it's out there, and available, it can be found on the web. And children sneaking into R-rated movies is nothing new. I'm sure my parents even saw things in movies "back in the day" that they weren't supposed to see or be exposed to. Where there's a will, there's a way!

POPSSexual Predators Get New Icon Good move! I have always warned my children to beware of giving out ANY personal info online! Good to know that the internet "gods" are watching out for us. Let's see how long before this gets abused too!

POPSRussian Internet Advances Russia struggles again with bringing more modern services to those who want it. They are saying that "the decrease in the internet charges is to create favorable conditions for the electronic commerce development." Yes, it seems that 21st century business is depending on the internet and computers in general for business communication and applications. I personally was surprised to read of the charges for internet service in Russia being the same or comparable to American charges for service. Russia, in my lifetime, has been so closed and proprietary about their business, that it was a pleasure to read something about the costs of services for their people. Thanks again to epheme (new clipper as of yesterday) for introducing me to this source.
