POPSSay No to Olympic Coverage.... I don't have many friends here at Clipmarks anymore, but I do still have an opinion. China is like Wal-Mart. Too big to give a damn about other people. They have not improved their human rights or pollution policies. Empty Promises to all of us and their behavior is making the spirit of the Olympics into one BIG sham

POPSWhat a relief ... some humanity in the world! I followed this story and was dismayed when the UK began to exercize some Draconian like blindfolding to the plight of a young man who most definitely deserved the benefit of asylum. It seems as though they have had a change of heart and listened to something other than fear!

POPSA REAL Issue.... Where have all the US Jobs gone? And where will they continue to go until we wake up and smell the coffee? While we have become so distracted by some trivial and not so trivial issues, our economy and prosperity has been given away to the Chinese. We are IN DEBT to them, and they manufacture goods WE USED TO MAKE. Pretty soon, when we say NO to China they won't listen because they won't need to. We have given away all of our economic power.

POPSMy positive clip for the week.... Michael Franti... POWER TO THE PEACEFUL I promised myself that I would celebrate my 50th year on this planet with something special every week to keep me positive, and happy to be alive. I want to contribute something to the world, and I haven't figured out what it is yet.... so instead I am going to share this clip with those who may pass by. If you haven't heard of Michael Franti, you are missing out on one cool dude... he's kinda like common, kinda like mos def.... but not really. Michael Franti has been tireless in his quest to promote peace and harmony in his music. Give a look and a listen.... you won't be disappointed.

POPSHear this woman crying.... I have to say that I was very very angry and livid while watching this video. How could you make a pregnant woman five months pregnant lie down on the ground during the trafic. Listen to the whole thing and it is really unfathomable. It was discovered later, that she was a very innocent woman a school principal, with two children who had been shopping at JC Penny. JCPenny decided she was a black man who had been stealing cars in the area and called the police. JCPenny has never seen fit to apologize to this woman or her two young children who witnessed what was being done to mommy... policemen with guns drawn ordering their mother to lay down on the ground. You can hear her sobs. I will never, ever shop at JCPenney again.

POPSPeaceful Monks killed and detained in Burma.... Gitmo style Where is the justice? When people march peacefully for democracy, how is it that the free world sits and watches and does nothing to help? The military (a few) have dominated the many with the help of whom? Why won't China do something (insert rhetorical question here).

POPSUS Campaign for BURMA I was surfing around the pirate bay and came across this link. It outlines some of the boiling issues that have been going on for a long time in Burma before the monks brought it widespread attention this week. I think this photo shows a dead journalist who only had a camera. We must listen and act......help support people who are truly courageous.

POPSWe are now our own enemy.... I remember as a kid, reading about this kind of behavior from governments.... how oppressive some governments were in oppression ... this was during the cold war, and the governments in question were usually communist. Now it seems we have taken over where the cold war left off -- with our own people left in the wake of intolerable government dominance. How did we let this happen?

POPSFascist America, in 10 Easy Steps This was a really good article, but a scary read and impossible to clip, so go read the whole thing. All this sort of talk really freaks me out, but we can't stick our heads in the sand. We have to keep demanding accountability and openness. It scares me, that more and more there seems to be warnings against this implied scenario. Are they all wrong and paranoid and silly and delusional? I think it's good to be a bit suspicious of everything the world's politicians are up to these days. I personally don't like the signs... Guantanamo and all that? The list is endless. Things are just not right IMO.
