About me
Hey, I'm just a normal guy - a jack of all trades type of guy. There is so much in this world that makes me just shake me head. I think people delude themselves quite a bit - buy into hysteria and live in fear. As a nation we've been indoctrinated since birth into believing things that simply are not true.

I hope to point out some inconsistencies in common misconceptions. In the very least, get people to at least THINK about what it is they believe rather than just accept it because its always what they've been told.
Why I use Clipmarks
I like clipmarks because it brings a very large variety of interesting topics up which I can browse through. If the clip interests me then I can read the source for more info.

Christian Child Abuse caught on tape
Oortcloud
by Oortcloud  6-14-2008    32
Listen to this audio of a 9 year old girl being mentally abused. She is being forced to accept that Harry Potter put the devil in her. This is child abuse. People like this needs to be locked up, but because of a taboo we allow on discussing religion people like this are allowed to continue, often encouraged. Pardon me while I go throw up now

Finally a show is coming on to debunk some of the most outrageous claims made by people. Right now the show is shooting the pilot episodes and looking to get support from the television industry. Drop them an email as support to show that television shows like this do have a market and people are getting tired of ghost story, UFO, and Bigfoot shows of drivel.

This is the best example of how the "Watchmaker" argument is complete fluff and shows once again why creationists really don't understand what it is they are talking about when they present arguments such as "The Watch Maker" or "The Jet in the Junkyard".

Why can't we hear the transmissions of Aliens?
Oortcloud
by Oortcloud  12-3-2007    3
Some people insist that the Earth has been leaking signals into space for the last few decades and by now we should have gotten someone's attention or heard someone else out there leaking signals. The fact is that you would need a radio dish the size of the Arecibo dish (pictured above) to pick up a good signal only as far away as Saturn. Any farther than that and even that dish will only yield static.

As he points out, his conversions consist almost entirely of taking stock GM parts and snapping them together in clever new ways. "They could do all this stuff if they wanted to," he tells me, slapping on a visor and hunching over an arc welder."The technology has been there forever. They make 90% of the components I use." He doesn't have an engineering degree; he didn't even go to high school: "I've just been messing around and seeing what I can do."

Is atheism a belief? A refresher.
Oortcloud
by Oortcloud  10-14-2007    6
The bottom line is that regardless of what magical sky fairy you do or do not believe in, there is ample evidence to indicate there are basic moral guidelines that all humans have an instinctive nature to follow. The most obvious involves avoiding unnecessary harm to other creatures. By doing so, we reduce the likelihood of unnecessary harm being inflicted upon ourselves, and you don't need to believe in god to recognize that pain and discomfort is something worth avoiding wherever possible. For more information, see Atheism for further details on categories of atheists.

There is far to much knowledge at this site to do more than clip a few points that will be made. There is a lot of great information to be found here. As I've said before, no one can prove or disprove "a god" or "a creator", but we have ample evidence to show that the bible god is complete fiction.
