It was 12 hours since I read this and it has been on my mind all day. I really do not know what to say. I try to see the positive and if this man can enjoy the Internet and communicate with the rest of us well that is wonderful. Welcome back .

"Mother of all cary trades"
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  11-8-2009
What is a Carry Trade? This explanation from Investopedia A strategy in which an investor sells a certain currency with a relatively low interest rate and uses the funds to purchase a different currency yielding a higher interest rate. A trader using this strategy attempts to capture the difference between the rates, which can often be substantial, depending on the amount of leverage used.

It is dry very dry. The dust storm that hit southern parts of Au east coast today is making its way up north. With a bit of luck when we wake up tomorrow morning it is to a blue sky. It goes to show how dependent we are on a clean environment.

Tax on Housing
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  9-21-2009
I know how much we all like taxes but a tax on mew housing might not be so silly. Let me explain. For some time I think we have been living above our means. Where we live has become larger and larger and more expensive to maintain. An incentive to build a smaller home could be a way to get us thinking smaller and to live with what we can afford. With other words if you like to build a mansion yes you pay for the extra building cost and also for the extra size in form of a tax after all you most probably can afford it :-) What do you think?

Google Real Estate listings in Australia is Good News!
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  7-27-2009
Mr Murdoch is accusing Google for not paying “the media” for content they index and in their turn sell ads against mmmmm…… On Realestate.com agents and private persons provide the content text and photos, pay for having it listed on the site, and Realestate.com sells ads against this. You provide the content get charged for it and someone else is selling it mmm think you have had it to good for way to long I support Google 100% here this is good news.

WolframAlpha and True Knowledge
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  5-17-2009
I tested WolframAlpha and True Knowledge today. I found both very impressive they both gave me correct answers, Wolfram had a few problems but most probably because of traffic to the site They are not search engines, Wolfram computes answers not stock answers from a database but on the fly , True Knowledge had a more polished feel to it but I guess it has been around a bit longer. The detailed answers in WolframAlpha was impressive asking about the GDP of Australia and True Knowledge gave correct answers about OpenSim.

A question of freedom to speak and freedom to have political different views? Most of us in the western world take it for granted and that is natural so it should be. In lots of other places that is not the fact, Suu Kiy is a person that relentlessly keeps on fighting for her believes and her followers, I admire this quality immensely and It is on top of my wishing list for her to have success in her mission, yet again it looks like she has had another set back.........

by Per Eriksson  5-10-2009
When living in Malmo southern Sweden I used to spend a lot of my free time in Copenhagen. The Danes always did come across as very friendly and happy people. It is not surprising to me to see that they are happy andlike the place they live in. With a short working week, low unemployment and relative high GDP I be happy also. Question? How do they do it?

Newspapers the outlook is not brilliant!
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  5-2-2009
This echo's my sentiment fully, but we need journalists, investigators and quality reporting. We are slowly changing a lot of high quality blogs are appearing online daily .It is not hard to set up your own private news gathering using rss feeds. Unless Newspapers can reinvent them selfs it is difficult to see them surviving.

The 3D web can offer a myriad of opportunities to display data and information. It has been our aim at Troppo design to help new home buyers to be able to visualise and get a feel for their future home even before the home built. A SHASA social energy meter will add to and be a valuable asset in any new or existing home

To be too similar to Reality?
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  3-17-2009
I think this is very smart if you make a robot that looks exactly like a human it will at the best be a bad replica of a human. However if you make a robot that looks somewhat like a human you can make a great looking robot. When making virtual environment I think we should have this in mind a house, backyard or some furniture modeled and designed in an application on a computer can be made to look very life like but many times it is better to make no doubt about what you have designed and in doing that you are not misleading people. A great looking anime style robot and with heaps of style well done

Welcome to the digital world. This is an interactive, innovating, informative and interesting place. We are not just consumers we are people and we at times like to share, exchange and colaborate. Douglas Merrill to run EMI’s digital unit is good news. So why has it taken so long? It takes time to move mountains, the larger and more solid the rock the longer to move. But the music industry I hear you say they are made up of modern people trend setters clever people and visionaries. Why so long?? I wonder?? Apple’s iTunes No 1 music retailer in the US ROCK ON!!! Douglas get to work You have some catching up to do…………

Coal in the hot seat
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  4-5-2008
Rio Tinto's chief scientist Dr Robin Batterham says that a shift to new technology like geothermal might be more expensive than we first thought and that existing technology might still have something to offer. AGL CEO Michael Fraser says it is unlikely that new coal generators will be built without significant improvement in that technology. I agree with both views. I like the way Dr Batterham points out that when you put up incentives and carbon Trading is one of them you might find other benefits as well. We might find answers that will help us in the quest for a cleaner and healthier environment less polution and more power.

by Per Eriksson  3-30-2008
Light come back on after Earth Hour but hopefully some will stay off and we all think about saving energy. Next time Earth Hour comes around we at Troppo design will take part in Earth Hour in Second Life. I am convinced that Second Life can become a vital part in monitoring of power consumption in residential as well as commercial buildings. As another days goes bye at Troppo in SL…

Monitor your home from Second Life
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  2-26-2008
This is an aspect of Second life that escaped me but I think this is brilliant and could tie in nicely with what we do. To apply to commercial buildings like the one we are in at the moment, to monitor lights, air conditioning, elevators, security, fire alarms in a place like Sl could be saving a lot of time. Many times we have already built the building in SL so now we take it a bit further and link it to the first world I like it :-)

Robbie Dingo resides in the virtual world of Second Life which he uses as a test-bed to explore some of his creative ideas. The mschinima clip of "Watch the World(s)" is stunning. The idea of making a painting come alive as he does in this clip by building it bit by bit with Don McLeans music hauntingly in the backgroud sends shivers up my spine. Do yourself a favour download the high res version pour a glass and enjoy in everyday life something created in Secondlife, thank you very much Robbie Dingo. http://digitaldouble.blogspot.com/2007/07/watch-worlds.html

Virtualy Hired!
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  2-6-2008
We all know the excellent powers of Secondlife as a communication platform. However navigating around in the virtual world can have its moments. Teleporting, flying (I am not talking about Qantas here more a pread your wings and fly stuff) can take a while to getting used to. Teleporting from one place to another is really no more than going from one webpage (address) to another. It is easy to make misstakes and you can find yourself in a sticky and fun situations. As for hiring staff, having a sales meeting or just to keep contact with people Secondlife is indeed like messaging on steroids.

Secondlife less hype more substance!
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  2-5-2008
As a platform and workplace Secondlife has improved a lot. The time Troppo design has had in SL has been a rollercoaster of a ride, however a business model is forming. Personaly I think we are trying to mimic "what was" to much. SL is new it opens up to new thinking and we shoud use SL as a tool to invent and explore. Secondl ife is not a game. SL is a creative tool like the first pencil put in your hand.............. make it work!

The Economy down turn
Per Eriksson
by Per Eriksson  2-3-2008
It is difficult to see that in a major down turn in global markets local markets can stay untouched. This week the Reserve Bank will make a decision about interest rates here in Australia. 50-50 call many say, I can't see how we can increase our rates when the US have decreased theirs with 1,25 in a very short time and when our dollar is as strong as it is right now. But lets wait and see.......
