    How the Bicycle Emancipated Women
    alanocu
    by alanocu  5-15-2008    10
"The National Woman Suffrage Association was formed by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton 139 years ago today. To mark the anniversary, Chris Connolly is here to discuss the role of the bicycle in the women’s movement." Highly recommended article at the source...clipped only a very small portion of the entire article: http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/14985 I didn't mean to place the photo of the woman running the Triathlon after the text "Clearly, women needed to change their underwear." I don't know how it ended up that way....

Link is dead... new link is: http://acomplaintfreeworld.org/ Live a complaint free life. Or at least try. I suppose you could do this with a rubber band or any other kind of wrist wear. I am going to try this in my goals to improve my life as well as contribute positively to the world at large (or small). That means I have to be careful about what I clip and say at clipmarks then! :D

Bertrand Russell: “You find as you look around the world that every single bit of progress in humane feeling, every improvement in the criminal law, every step toward the diminution of war, every step toward better treatment of the colored races, or every mitigation of slavery, every moral progress that there has been in the world, has been consistently opposed by the organized churches of the world. I say quite deliberately that the Christian religion, as organized in its churches, has been and still is the principal enemy of moral progress in the world.”

    Your life is Perfect.
    pokkets

We often don't know if we want something until we get it, and then find it wasn't what we wanted. Through that discovery, we can start to believe we really wanted something else, and the chase continues, turning goals into hurdles. Often confusing improvement with change. Perhaps another angle could be learning what we need to, but also trying to improve what we can already do well, without neglecting the opportunities to learn from what we can consider to be failures. We can change situations, but changing who we are may not be possible, and if it is we don't have the foresight to make it a likely improvement.

    Watermelon May Have Viagra-effect
    Mohir
    by Mohir  7-1-2008    6
In watermelons, these include lycopene, beta carotene and the rising star among its phyto-nutrients – citrulline – whose beneficial functions are now being unraveled. Among them is the ability to relax blood vessels, much like Viagra does. Scientists know that when watermelon is consumed, citrulline is converted to arginine through certain enzymes. Arginine is an amino acid that works wonders on the heart and circulation system and maintains a good immune system, Patil said.

Science of Search: How to Make Out, or Levitate
    haraya
    by haraya  7-31-2007    1
How-to searches also reveal our aspirations. Comprising 12% of the instructional searches were those questions geared towards self improvement: how to "lose weight," "gain weight," "make money," and, for those truly in search of instant gratification, "make money fast." On the darker side, over 9.5% of the searches were for illicit or illegal activities, with marijuana use figuring high on the list ("how to grow marijuana," "grow pot," "grow weed") but also some very concerning questions: "how to commit suicide," "how to make meth," even "how to make a bomb." We apparently feel comfortable enough with our computers and the Internet to query just about anything. Search continues to grow in importance as we sift through the mountain of information available to us. As the growth of "how to" searches increases, its clear that we are turning to search engines as sources of knowledge and insight into getting things done.

My marriage broke up and I even thought about taking my own life," he revealed. The condition left David with a constant itch, and he left a trail of dead skin everywhere he went. When they asked, he told children asked what was wrong with him, he told them he had been burnt in a fire. Four years ago, a friend suggested that he try Argan oil, extracted from the nut of a tree found in Morocco and used widely in cosmetics. Within hours of application, the itch which had troubled him for 14 years had stopped. David spent the next four years experimenting with different combinations of natural ingredients, using the oil as a base, with remarkable results. "Within four weeks there was a massive improvement and after seven to nine weeks it was completely gone from my scalp. "I know this works. It has given me back my freedom. I was a

"How many future Beethovens, Thomas Jeffersons, Ernest Hemingways, Martin Luther Kings and Maya Angelous are we currently drugging into stupors in our schools and nation? Men and women of greatness are probably the least likely to sit still and do the normal schoolwork directed at the average student. How many non-drugged kids would have never become famous, but would have been able to hold a job at Wal-Mart, get married, have kids, go bowling, collect the next Beanie Babies, attend church, and enjoy life but are now doomed to become drug addicts, felons, and just plain psychotic?"
