POPSTreating wounded soldiers like $#%$% I'm as much to blame as anyone, but i really am disappointed that the American people site by so idly while the Bush administration screws people so badly. It's great that we "disapprove" of them in polls, but when push comes to shove, we are allowing them to do whatever they want...and the results are truly sickening.

POPSPhilosophers without Gods
From book blurb on site: Atheists are frequently demonized as arrogant intellectuals, antagonistic to religion, devoid of moral sentiments, advocates of an "anything goes" lifestyle. Now, in this revealing volume, nineteen leading philosophers open a window on the inner life of atheism, shattering these commonstereotypes as they reveal how they came to turn away from religious belief. These highly engaging personal essays capture the marvelous diversity to be found among atheists, providing a portrait that will surprise most readers. Many of the authors, for example, express great affection for particular religious traditions, even as they explain why they cannot, in goodconscience, embrace them. None of the contributors dismiss religious belief as stupid or primitive, and several even express regret that they cannot, or can no longer, believe. Perhaps more important, in these reflective pieces, they offer fresh insight into some of the oldest and most difficultproblems facing the h

POPSThe story of Sartre and de Beauvoir as never told before If this couple expected their arrangement would spare them the trials and heartache of a conventional marriage, they were wrong.Their multiple affairs went on until World War II when Sartre was called up and their sex games had to be conducted through letters.Left behind in Paris, Simone continued to seduce both men and women, writing titillating descriptions of her activities to Sartre behind the Maginot Line, which reveal her heartlessness and the vulnerability of her conquests.Tragically, the lives of these girls, who were pathologically jealous of each other over their teacher's attentions, were permanently blighted. One took to self-harming, another committed suicide. Most remained pathetically unfulfilled and dependent on the childless Simone, who perversely referred to them as her 'family'. ... Sartre had always said the best way to learn about a country was to sleep with its women.

POPSParis Hilton out of prison for medical reasons All that I can say is..... Unbelievable. If she really did have a VALID medical condition, it would have kept her out of jail in the first place. So much for ".. and justice for all" on an equal level. The perks of the "aristocracy"... If Paris were a young black male from the south side of Chicago, the jail sentence would have stood at the original sentence. disclaimer: I am not a young black male from the south side of Chicago, nor am I a communist, marxist, or any other political "-ist". I'm just a "regular guy".
