Their approach has always been to give engineers freedom (if not incentive) to innovate. Will be fascinating to see how this affects the culture inside google.

POPSNew Firefox Web browser to be released Tuesday I had downloaded Firefox 3 and that's when I had problems with the Clipmarks orange box and clipping. When I went back to the older version it worked fine. Hopefully with the official release, it can be resolved. I can't wait to try it out. But like others, I have extensions that have become part of my internet life. :~)

While Google has had failures in extending its brand (Froogle, Google Base), its collection of services that are affiliated with its mainstream search product, like Google Maps, Image Search, and desktop search, can make switching away from Google difficult for users. Costello realizes that Cuil needs to layer in additional services, but as he said to me, the company has to start somewhere. POPSThe World Becomes the Web It's already a reality in Japan through the KDDI network there, using software from GeoVector Corp. in San Francisco. Pamela Kerwin, GeoVector's vice president of strategic development, explained that LBS requires that the phone has GPS circuitry, so it knows where it is. Additionally, it needs to have a compass so it knows where it is pointed.

POPSDepressed by work? I guess it's not surprising that those who spend their days helping the elderly and sick find themselves depressed. I honestly don't think I could handle that type of interaction day in and day out.
