Prsonally I think this is both amusing and disgusting.. I guarantee that there people out there who would buy this game for their kids and wouldn't buy bully... At least in bully you don't teach intolerance based on race & religion.. nor do you mow people down with a shot gun... Sick if you ask me...

MPs set to vote on same-sex marriage
TheCatWhisperer
by TheCatWhisperer  12-7-2006
What an utter waste of time. They knew going into this that the vast majority of Liberals would not supports their bill, nor would any of the NDP or Bloq. Now, they are putting their own nail in the coffin of same-sex marriage, as even if they managed to get a majority next election, they would not be able to bring the issue back (without massive scandal, and huge public uproar.. since this will be the second time they were defeated on the issue..)

Good for them... “How do you give someone permission to discriminate in the name of the A.N.C.? How do you allow for someone to vote against the constitution and the policies of the A.N.C., which is anti-discrimination?”

Heheh.. this should be a fun one to watch. Personally I think it is great they put it in there.. it forces certain individuals to show their true colors.. and also forces other companies who have released games with similar content to come to Rockstar's defense...

N.J. court orders equal rights for same-sex couples
TheCatWhisperer
by TheCatWhisperer  10-26-2006
Hrm.. they got it half right.. though I really don't mind the legislative branch handling the title.. Though if they don't call it "Marriage", it'll likely be revisited again in a few years, then again, etc until it is changed. The Conservative (minority) government here in Canada is flirting with trying to appeal the decision by courts to make same-sex marriage legal here in Canada, but the consensus so far is that they will likely lose. It's harder to take rights away than to give them, especially after they have been given for over a year.

'Jesus Christ,' 'Raymond' Wife Take on Stem Cells
TheCatWhisperer
by TheCatWhisperer  10-25-2006    4
Hrm.. take the word of some ACTORS.. or SCIENTISTS? At least with MJF, he is a victim of a disease that may benefit from stem cell research, but what do any of these guys have to do with it? One comment on the blog is: " They have a right to their opinions, but they NEVER stated what their reasons really were for opposing stem cell research. ". At least MJF gave his opinion & reasons... Personally, I'd rather see ads from the scientists, lawyers & religious community expressing why they think voters should vote for or against the bill. Actors are not experts, none of them are scientists, nor are they lawyers (playing on on TV does not count), or religious leaders, or at least victims of a disease/sickness (like MJF). I'm not saying they can't have an opinion.. I'm just saying I don't really care about it unless they are directly involved. Personally, I think MJF laid it on a bit thick in his commercial, but at least he's probably done his homework.

Battle of the New Atheism
TheCatWhisperer
by TheCatWhisperer  10-23-2006    5
I'm hoping this drives a civil discussion, as I'd like to know where you all stand on this issue. Note: I'm personally an atheist of sorts. I was raised in about 4 different religions (Protestant, Mormon (baptized), Jehovah's Witness (foster parents), and some independent cult like Christian group (foster parents)) So I've seen a fair share of the spectrum. I've read the Bible (old & new testament), the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, parts of the Koran, etc... I feel I've taken a good look. I just don't believe. never have.. was kicked out of Sunday school for asking questions... (I agree it was probably disruptive, but I really did just want to know and was asking those questions out of pure thirst for answers, I was 11). I have no issue if anyone else believe, and in fact feel it's great. I think people should believe in whatever god they feel is there for them. I don't get it myself, I've never felt His presence (nor any other gods...)

Interesting article. I like how they point to MTV & yout cuture as culprits.. probably rightly so. Kids these days have soo much access to information, so much ability to communicate with other kids from around the country and around the world, and such mixed messages from media, etc it's not hard to see why this is happneing.

(Some silly comments on) Nova Scotia lifts Sunday shopping ban
TheCatWhisperer
by TheCatWhisperer  10-5-2006    11
I know, I already clipped an article about this, but some of the comment those against Sunday Shopping are making are just ridiculous... Why should the courts decide everything, I mean, why are the courts the law of the land? Are you serious? They are the COURTS it's their job to uphold the law! Idiot. A lot of people spend time with their families. We really value that, we don't want the rat race, we don't want to be like the rest of Canada Maybe not, but (consonantly) according to some recent polls over 65% of Nova Scotians do. If 20 people jumped off the bridge, we wouldn't feel we had to do the same. This is the stupidest argument ever ;) Of course you don't have to do the same, nobody is forcing you to shop Sundays.
