China says U.S. must do more on climate change
TheCatWhisperer
by TheCatWhisperer  12-20-2007    3
I agree. The US (and canada, much of Eurpe, etc) are responmsible for the majority of the pollution that is the central cause of climate change. Hence, tehy should take the lead in helping to combat the issue. Asking developing nations to step up to this degree is absurd. How are they supposed to bring themselves into the 1st world if they have to pay soo much more to bring thier economies up to scale? The US already has ample power generation and manufacturing to meet its needs, China, india and others ont he toerhhand still need to grow substatially in order to com eeven close to par with us. So maybe we shouldbe helping to foot thier bill, knowing that by doing so we are helping the world overall. We should also take the lead and lead by example. The money we put into research in development is a great way to make it cheaper and more affordable for devloping nations.

Kindof sad really.. i mean, if we are going to send people to mars, and there is a good chance that both men and women may be sent, then we really do have to think about the possibility of sex in space.. i mean.. stuck on a small ship for 6 months.. what else are you going to do?? (besides science crap all the time...)

'Jesus Christ,' 'Raymond' Wife Take on Stem Cells
TheCatWhisperer
by TheCatWhisperer  10-25-2006    4
Hrm.. take the word of some ACTORS.. or SCIENTISTS? At least with MJF, he is a victim of a disease that may benefit from stem cell research, but what do any of these guys have to do with it? One comment on the blog is: " They have a right to their opinions, but they NEVER stated what their reasons really were for opposing stem cell research. ". At least MJF gave his opinion & reasons... Personally, I'd rather see ads from the scientists, lawyers & religious community expressing why they think voters should vote for or against the bill. Actors are not experts, none of them are scientists, nor are they lawyers (playing on on TV does not count), or religious leaders, or at least victims of a disease/sickness (like MJF). I'm not saying they can't have an opinion.. I'm just saying I don't really care about it unless they are directly involved. Personally, I think MJF laid it on a bit thick in his commercial, but at least he's probably done his homework.

TheCatWhisperer
by TheCatWhisperer  9-28-2006
Not quite sharks with laserbeams, but cool tech none the less. Intersting that the US seems to be ok with the practice. Granted the atricle says "attempted", but the state dept. also hinted in the article that china has been devloping this for years. How long before they can blind the spy satalites?

The Political Game: Who will save gamers?
TheCatWhisperer
by TheCatWhisperer  9-25-2006
I'm so sick and $%&@* tired of people blaming violence in the youth culture on video games. How friggin ignorant do you have t be to believe that a kid who plays "grand Theft Auto" will turn into a homicidal maniac? Kids have been killing each other far longer than video games have been in the main stream (long before they were even in existence). It's sad that a comedy-satire show has to show us how absurd many of these legal actions are. I've played video games all my life. I had a VERY, VERY #*%&'ed up childhood. Dealt with physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, was bullied in school (until I reached about grade 10), and though the though of teaching a bully a good object lesson crossed my mind, I like the VAST majority of my fellows believed it would solve nothing. "Cold Case" the other night did a great job of showing how people blame violent video games. "you played maniac massacre, you must have loved the thought of killing people!".. oh blow it out your igno

Relativity drive: The end of wings and wheels?
TheCatWhisperer
by TheCatWhisperer  9-25-2006
Imagine: driving your car with no emissions, hovering over the ground. A scientist has found a technology that could potentially allow this to happen in the long-term, and in the short term give satalites & spacecraft emmense thrust without burning fuels. Or is it all dreams & snake-oil?
