POPSPublic input sought on blacks-only school This just seems like a really, really dumb idea. Here we are trying to stamp out racism and encourage diversity and these dolts are trying to open a school that would only admit children of a specific race. No better way to breed ignorance, intolerance, etc. What would happen if they opened a white's only school? (yes, they exist due to population, but not to policy). I understand that research shows that students in "ethnically centered" schools tend to be happier, but that just shows there's something wrong with current schools, that we are failing the students in diverse schools. Fix the problems we have, don't create more. Retarded.

POPSNewark School Censors Yearbook Photo of Gay Couple Kissing Stupid homophobic school administrators. Nuff said. If I were the students, I'd refuse the yearbook until it was re-printed, un-edited. Especially if I as the student had to pay for the yearbook. (If I had previously paid for it, I'd take them to court to get my money back.) Fucking unbelievable.

POPSStudent removed from school & banned from graduation for creating map of school
Apparently, the kids created a map-mod of his school so he & his friends could play it in a game (like counterstrike or some other multi-player game, probably fps). Now I understand why some might get their panties in a knot over this, but I think it was likely innocent. Back in the day, my buddies and I did the same thing, creating a map of our school in i think doom or quake. We did it fir fun, not to "practice" killing our fellow students, but simply because we thought it would be fun play in a familiar map. That and it was a lot easier than dreaming up our own maps. Our lab prof thought it was fantastic and even played with us once (he was terribly horrible, but we thought it was awesome that he encouraged us to be creative). I think this kids was just doing it for fun, with no malicious intent. Now, however he has every right to be angry, they painted him as a terrorist & potential murderer, this will probably go on his permanent record even if he is cleared.

POPSDST Changerover causes student to spend days in juvie... Looks like the school and the police are trying to bury it... they feel they were in the right as: County officials said Tuesday that Webb was in custody no longer than the law requires. "Legally, we were OK. We didn't step on this kid's rights," said Mike Sturnick, supervisor for the juvenile probation office. no they just screwed him is all. He doesn't even want to go back to that school again.. it will likely have a negative effect on his year & grades overall & mental stress to boot. But hey, who cares... the didn't step on his rights... How would you feel if you were arrested & detained for days because the police couldn't bother to investigate properly?

POPSViral marketing leads to mock gunfight Ok, I get the whole "but they we acting in a way that could be construed as violent or inciting violence.. blah blah {insert columbine comment here}" But come on... from the sounds of this article, this is the most students who have participated in anything at one time together in that school in ages... suspensions? get life.

POPSSome Schools Banning Homework At first, I was lie.. "Oh come on!, even I'm not THAT liberal..." but after reading the article.. well, if it i sin elementary school, and they have proven homework does little to help (besides reading at home), then maybe they have something. If the teachers instead focus on building good processes for teaching kids how to learn and studying in class, then maybe... I'm not an early childhood educator though...

POPS School bans tag, other chase games Why not just dress them all in football helmets and suites made of pillows.. of wait.. might need bubble suites too so they don't get germs.. Idiotic. Wanna do something for your kids? Bring back sports, art, music, make them manditory... Take ALL fatty & sugary foods out of schools. Taking away play & fun solves nothing.. all it does is make kids look fo another way to get rid of their energy & look to interact. Plus it breeds hostility.. (kids resent not being able to play).

POPSWhat would you change about todays schools ? Hi Guys (and Gals), Long time no clips. Ok (like I told ericg) school started and I barely have time, so unfortunately Clipmarks had to wait. Anyway its no secret that I'm totally interested in politics. So I decided to run for SGA President (Yep President). So tell me What you would've changed in your school in 9th grade or What changes you like to see in school today. One change at a time :D Also if everything goes right Clipmarks will have a spike in traffic (in the long long long term). I won't tell you how just yet though ;) P.S. There are more clips (and ideas regarding clipmarks) I've saved. So Stay Tuned. Sorry, Have a bunch of Bio. Assignments due on Friday (Yes this). So Later. Take Care :)

POPSSchool Moves to Block Bully Game by Rockstar (of GTA fame)
Ok, so I am usually all for the game makers and thier right to sell games. But in this case, I am on the fence, and even leaning towards supporting the schoolboard. This game is obviously targeted at teens. And the rating it will get will be M (for Mature, meaning you must be at least 17 to buy it). That being said, is Rockstar responsible if violence happens as a result of kids playing this game? Or are parents responsible here too? One can argue that GTA was always meant as an "Adult" game, that Rockstar never intended for it to fall into the hands of children. But this game, "Bully" takes place in a private school, and seems to be aimed at senior high school grade kids. (Most kids are about to enter university at 17, the legal age to buy an M rated game). Personally, I think this game is in just bad taste, and Rockstar is just asking for trouble. Why make this game? Again, I'm usually for the game industry and hate the idea of games being censored. Not here though
