About me
Eclectic, creative, intelligent, wise, naive artist and writer.
Hopeful, disillusioned, idealistic free-thinker.
Mom, partner, wife, widow, lover, friend, grandmother, minister, caretaker, daughter, sister, granddaughter.
Queer, spiritual pagan.

You can safely assume that you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.

Why I use Clipmarks
I started here hoping for meaningful dialogue; an exchange of ideas with which to broaden my understanding of politics, religion, environment and most importantly the people and values that people base their beliefs upon. Although I have found a lot of rhetoric, sarcasm, and fools, I have also found a lot of wisdom, considerate communication and discussion that although occasionally heated, seems productive.
I admit I do enjoy witty comments, and snark, and am not above using these vehicles of expression myself, I try to see past these things to the heart of the issues.
I thoroughly enjoy the diversity of topics clipped and of people clipping.
Also, it's an interesting little microcosm.

Oh yeah, and don't trust yourself either!

The Chinese philosopher Xun Zi said that human nature is not particularly good, but he went on to argue that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to make it better. Too many people resign themselves to say "that's just the way things are" because that's easier than challenging their own beliefs. Before we can be an agent for change, our ideas must be relentlessly refined in the furnace of critical introspection. Follow the link to read all these cognitive hazards, and see where you find them in your life!

This site is fabulous and one of my favourites. When you get tired, why not just lean back and let someone else do the reading for a change. LOTS of stuff here, to make you smarter. Go rummage through the titles. Tons of stuff for FREE and all downloadable. :) I clipped just a few titles at the end (until I ran out of characters) to show you what sort of stuff they offer. Enjoy! .:)

Textbook Disclaimer Stickers
laceym
by laceym  3-19-2007    2
Wording for the first disclaimer (top left) is taken verbatim from the sticker designed by the Cobb County School District ("A community with a passion for learning") in Georgia, which actually plagiarized Alabama's evolution disclaimer ( view ). Really, I'm not making any of this up. The other 14 are mildly educational variants that demonstrate the real meaning of a scientific "theory" as well as the true motivations of the School Board members and their creationist supporters. Ideally, the above stickers will deter other districts from using textbook disclaimers as a way to undermine the teaching of evolution.

In case you ever doubted that the Discovery Institute's real goal is the promulgation of ignorance, that's a genuine quote: Michael Egnor is directly addressing high school kids and telling them they don't need to learn basic biology, because he doesn't use it.

I clipped this before, but pop restrictions burried the clip. In a very naive hope to keep discussions fallacy-free, better the debate and stimulate some self-criticism, I'm re-sharing this with you all. Anyway, the resource is huge, examples abundant, explications very clear and even etymological grounded.
