POPS10 Reasons Why Liberals Hate Christians I ran out of Clippage. 10) Liberals are spiritually lost and blind to the truth of the gospel. I clipped this not at the source (I was kinda sceeert a goin' there), rather for an excellent Op/Ed over at Happy Jihad's House of Pancakes I love HJ. He can even make me smile at the close of a day like today. The scariest thing about these 10 items is I swaer I've heard them almost verbatim from another clipper. Ohhhh Willieeeeee.... POPSA Prespective on Megachurches I found this in a comment in one of the blogs I read. I found it incredibly fascinating. Megachurches are more like Walmart, and small churches are like those mom-and-pop stores which are threatened. Interesting.

POPSI Report You Decide AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals. -- Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown) The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country. -- Rev Jerry Falwell, Sermon, July 4, 1976 The Jews are returning to their land of unbelief. They are spiritually blind and desperately in need of their Messiah and Savior. -- Jerry Falwell, Listen, America! Billy Graham is the chief servant of Satan. -- Rev Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown) The ACLU is to Christians what the American Nazi party is to Jews. -- Rev Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown) AIDS is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals. To oppose it would be like an Israelite jumping in the Red Sea to save one of Pharoah's chariotters. -- Rev Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown)

POPSDo You Really Believe That? Noah's Flood Edition If continual and arbitrary violations of physical law are invoked at every turn, any chain of events, no matter how ridiculous or impossible, can be allowed. But the sheer number of miracles that would be needed gives some idea of just how implausible the flood story is. Nevertheless, there are a significant number of theists who believe this silly story really happened and want to see it adopted into the scientific canon and taught in public schools as fact. Yet most of these people, I'd wager, want this only because they have been told by their trusted religious authorities that this story is true and have never thought through its implications for themselves. To theists who fit this description, I suggest you take a closer look at the story of Noah's flood and all it entails, and then ask yourselves: Do you really believe that?

POPSHow Faith and Community Dominate Foreign Policy A really good op-ed piece on how to understand the intricacies of societies where politics and religion do mix without any negative connotations. I have only clipped a little, highly recommend a read at the source.

POPSReligious group attacks religion in healthcare She noted that the five Supreme Court justices on the majority in the 5-4 decision were all Catholic men -- Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Anthony Kennedy, Justice Samuel Alito, Justice Clarence Thomas and Justice Antonin Scalia. All were appointed by conservative Republican presidents who oppose abortion, including President George W. Bush. The group also complained about Catholic-owned hospitals that refuse to sterilize women who ask for it, refuse to let doctors perform abortions and do not provide contraception.

POPSWhat a Whiner!!! A man lays down his life for his country and this man wants to deny him his choice of religion and keep him from using his own religious symbol on his own grave! I can't believe this. Then he whines about not being able to put artificial flowers on a grave. I guess honoring veterans is fine so long as he is able to put cheap flowers instead of the real thing.

POPSEvidence of an American Theocratic Movement Essentially, theocracy refers to the primacy of religion in government and law. A theocratic society is one in which clergy rules and in which religious law trumps secular law. When American Christians think of theocracy, they typically think of Middle Eastern countries which are characterized by repressive religious governments. Such governments may have an "elected" leader, but the real power typically lies with Muslim clerics. Law is based on religious doctrine and tends to be misogynistic.
