Kill All The Whales!!!
missmartini
by missmartini  1-17-2008
Grrr. Can Bush just get out of office now? I mean, he's got a lot more time to f--- a lot more stuff up. Seriously. Hi, California needs our whales. How cool is it seeing whales off the coast? It's AMAZING! And I am a Navy brat but even I know this is b-s. Can I get some exemptions? Like do I really need to pay my taxes this year? Can I drunk drive? I think I should be exempt from taxes and paying bills. Yes.

Japan once again to defy international whaling embardo
Viiltaja
by Viiltaja  11-18-2007
This year Japan plans to kill humpbacks for first time in decades. In reacent years Japan has increased its whaling activity rapidly. It is only matter of time other nations will follow. This is just a one aspect of destroying oceanic life. Excess fishing is a large global problem and whaling is nothing but commercial activity for rich Japanese. Amount of people is increasing all the time and we should sustain our food storages instead of destroying them. Mayby Japan should start farming the sea instead killing wild animals or something...

Bush declines from Kioto again
Viiltaja
by Viiltaja  10-16-2007    3
Bush seems to have his very own idea about bad policy against all the other countries (except oil producers). Volutary emission reduction is not going to lead anywhere because it's better for economy to keep polluting in a short interval. What do these people think, the wold is endless? Personally I don't understand why it's the president, just one guy, to decide about this kind of things. Bush has his oil industry supporters or someone to tell him what to do and it's definately no fair trade. It's our shared world we're dealing with, not just their world they can do whatever they want!

Seaweed for fuel and food in future?
Viiltaja
by Viiltaja  10-10-2007    1
Seaweed has also ability to produce hydrogen which could be used for various things. It is also possible to grow seaweed in north using powerplant's cooling water. Seaweed is growing faster than many plants and lubricating greases they contain can be used as biodisel.

Carbon dioxide footprint, USA at the top overall, Britons at air travelling
Viiltaja
by Viiltaja  10-10-2007
" Third on the list at 3.1 metric tons is Britain, followed by Ireland on 3.0, Germany on 2.4 and Spain on 2.2 metric tons. India is at the foot of the table with an annual travel footprint of just 200 kg per adult, with second-to-bottom China on 500 kg. But TGI warned that travel emissions in those two booming economies were rising rapidly." Western world is a bad example! Other nations will never reduce their emissions if we don't do it first.

Some examples of 41400 Threatened species (IUCN red list)
Viiltaja
by Viiltaja  9-14-2007
The list is growing every year! This year (2007) it's 41400 different species of animals and plants. The IUCN claims extinction will threat 1/4 of mammals, 1/8 of birds and even 70% of plants. Most of the species are endangered because of human activity. For example banggain's cardinal fishes are being captured 900 000 per year for aquaruims.

Make Your Computer Carbon Neutral
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  7-23-2007    1
Click the "donate for free" button once a day to offset 1 lb of carbon daily. This estimate assumes you were on your computer for about 3-4 hours today. You can decrease your emissions by switching on “sleep” mode or turning your computer off if you plan to be away for any length of time. Okay, my computer is on way more than that, but a click a day is better than no click at all, I reckon. (PS) For those who give a sh**, errr... I mean click, below are a few of the other free "click-to-donate" sites. (Got appr. 30 more, so just ask.) I use a little app called DailyRotation (94 kb, no install) to do my daily rounds, so I don't forget anyone. The world need every bit of help it can get I reckon, so get to clickin' folks! .:) www.therainforestsite.com (6 buttons) www.ecologyfund.com (5 buttons) www.redjellyfish.com (2 buttons) www.tree4life.com/ingles/ingles.htm

Fur for Fashion is Inhumane

I've always thought that fur was a tacky clothing accessory. Needless to say I was disgusted when I learned how many animals it required to make a fur coat. There is more information at the site infurmation.com, including some information about dog and cat fur. Do these poor animals a favor. Wear your own skin--not theirs.
