POPSFlames of Hate I never was a racist in SA - but one cannot suppress the feeling of horror, disgust, contempt, and feelings close to hated towards the ppl responsible for the attrocities shown in this slideshow. What is this world coming to?! - our planet is being destroyed, precious animals becoming extinct, murder, rape, crime , drugs, proverty, hunger, human trafficking, the most horrific natural disasters to mention just a few are the order of the day. Yet ppl still deny the existance of God and what was prophesied in the the book of Revelations in the Bible - surely we are living in those end times.

POPSUniversity Research Labs Produces Too Much CO2 Hervé Philippe, a Université de Montréal professor of biochemistry, is a committed environmentalist who found that his own research produces 44 tonnes of CO2 per year. The average American citizen produces 20 tonnes. Hervé Philippe“I did my PhD on nucleotide sequencing in the hope of advancing our knowledge of biodiversity, but I never thought that the research itself could have a negative impact on biodiversity,” he said, during a recent biology department symposium. He doesn’t believe in one magical solution, but rather in transformations adapted to each area. For universities, he recommends having less frequent international conferences, increasing the use of videoconferences, avoiding research on well explored topics, reducing publications and evaluating the amount of CO2 produced by research projects. POPSWhy life speeds up as you grow older Douwe Draaisma, Professor of Psychology at the University of Groningen, will discuss some of the temporal illusions experienced in everyday life using insights from the psychology of autobiographical memory and brain science. Professor Draaisma will focus on experiences ranging from the mysterious expansion of the last few seconds before an impact, such as in a collision or a fall; to the subjective, but unmistakable sensation reported by many past their forties: life seems to speed up with age.
