POPSTesla: The Lost Wizard Video The man who invented the 21st century will soon get his due. As the web puts this type of information at our fingertips, I have faith that more and more people will be exposed to the brilliance of Tesla.

POPSAussies to Wear Bionic Rugby Jerseys The Rugby World Cup starts this week in France. When you're competing at such an intense level every little bit helps. How times have changed though -- I never thought I'd associate rugby with "negative ionisation charges."

POPSFriendly Dare Leads to World Championship What a remarkable story. Donald Thomas was a basketball player when his friend dared him to high jump one day. Now he's the World Champion. I was a high jumper for years -- to see a natural talent go out and clear heights like this with very little experience is breathtaking. Will make me think twice the next time someone dares me to do something.

POPSThe Mechanical Arm of Barry Bonds It's been disappointing seeing this historic moment in baseball history turned into an uncomfortable situation for all involved. If the roids weren't bad enough, this just makes me even less interested in supporting him.

POPSAlice Cooper is a Golf Addict Wow, I had no idea until I heard an interview with him on NPR today. 36 holes, 6 days a week certainly beats the heck out of drinking constantly. I hit the driving range the other day for the first time in a long while -- I'm a long way from touching Cooper's handicap of 4. Apparently he shot a 71 in the opening round of the Phoenix Open.

POPSClipmarks and the Art of Highlighting Clipper {{JICWyllie}} published this piece in Inside Knowledge magazine. His insight regarding annotation and classification is fascinating. And it's inspiring to read about the potential of Clipmarks as a tool for group intelligence -- World Mind here we come! Thanks Jan!

POPSDid Bob Dylan Invent Rap and Music Videos? I don't think so, but it's a funny thought. {{ericw}} and I are both huge fans of Dylan -- Bringing It All Back Home was one of the most influential albums in my life (I was 16 when I first heard it).

POPSThe Life and Death of Your Tweets Raises interesting questions. Would you want to have access to everything you've ever twittered? Will corporations be able to paint a picture of you based on "what you've been doing" for the past X years? Found via this clip

POPSClipmarks helps make Firefox a favorite browser As part of a piece about Apple launching Safari for PCs, the Telegraph's inhouse expert gave ONE example of an extension that makes Firefox the favorite browser for many. Guess which one? Clipmarks! Thanks Rick!

POPSWe didn't play Woodstock because... It's a long list of people who regret their decision not to play (probably Dylan aside). I've always felt deeply sad about Joni not being able to play, but never knew how many bands actually turned down the gig thinking it would just be a little hippie fest on a pig farm. My mom was there and somehow I feel like I was too.

POPSJimi Hendrix was kidnapped by mobsters I'd never heard of this one before. Hard to know if it's true or not, but I can imagine someone in Jeffery's position pulling a stunt like this (maybe I've been watching The Sopranos too much).

POPSMeet the Godfather of Fitness Apparently his birthday stunts are out of this world. On his 70th birthday he towed 70 boats carrying 70 people while swimming handcuffed and shackled.

POPSReality Lord of the Flies Drop a bunch of kids in an abandoned town and see if they get crazy enough to make some must-see TV. Yes, it's exploitative and a frightening snapshot of our voyeuristic society, but how can you not watch this?

POPSOutback driver survives 2 days in mangled wreck What a frightening experience this must have been for her. Two days with nothing to eat or drink in the middle of nowhere and you're stuck in a horrific car wreck with no way of getting out. Thank the gods someone finally stumbled across her.

POPSFacebook to offer free classifieds This is going to be huge. Facebook are doing an incredible job of letting users leverage their networks in new and efficient ways. Imagine you want to sell your bike -- now you post a listing and it immediately goes out to every feed you're associated with. Brilliant.

POPSAlcohol Cloud in Deep Space Sorry folks, can't bottle this stuff. Incredible what you find in outer space. Inspired by conversation on my clip about Virgin Galactic .

POPSAustralia defeats Sri Lanka to win 2007 Cricket World Cup Video wrap up here . Gilchrist was simply on fire -- just watching the highlights is enough to see what kinda form he was in. Great to see McGrath go out on top. The rest of tournament was complete madness ... will be interesting to see how history writes this one.

POPS1838: The first ever photograph of a person This photo of Daguerre's came a dozen or so years after French inventor Nicéphore Niépce produced the first permanent photograph . I wonder what ever came of the guy getting his boots polished -- I'm sure he had no idea people would still be talking about him hundred of years later. Here is the photo much bigger .

POPSAustralia march into World Cup Cricket final Go Aussie. I thought South Africa would put up a much better fight than this. We just completely destroyed them and go into the final against Sri Lanka with so much momentum. Brisbane's own Matty Hayden in the runs again -- he's pulling away as the leading runscorer in this World Cup.

POPSNigeria elects new President in disputed elections This was far from a free and fair election. It will be interesting to see if the new government can maintain order without a clear mandate. The outcome has global ramifications -- I stepped into the elevator at work today and read that oil prices are up because of doubts over the future in Nigeria.

POPSA great review of ClipSearch on Mashable! Thanks to Kristen for the great write-up. Like she said, we're really excited about the potential for ClipSearch to let everyone create their own searchable Web. Check the source for the full piece.

POPSMySpace would be worth $5 billion now Interesting articles about Zuckerberg's decision to keep Facebook private for the time being. Andreessen is right that if MySpace had held out a year or two longer, they could have sold for three times the price, or more.
