The Cove - Dolphin hunt film canceled in Tokyo after protests
adosuzano
by adosuzano  6-4-2010
Most Japanese I know have never eaten whale or dolphin meat and I would say they would not support what happens in the place shown on this documentary (and hidden from the public) . Having said that, to me, killing dolphins for food is not different than killing any other mammal like a cow, a deer or a bison. What makes me mad is that a right wing minority in Japan is allowed to decide what others can or can not see and avoid any dialog to happen.

How to integrate Toodledo with Thunderbird

 This is the code you need to add to error console, but I think that just using the WAT extension is a better option. Code is below: Components.classes .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIWindowMediator).getMostRecentWindow("mail:3pane").document.getElementById("tabmail").openTab("contentTab", {contentPage: "http://www.toodledo.com/views/index.php"});

HP LaserJet Scan Problem on Mac OSX - FIX
adosuzano
by adosuzano  3-5-2010
I had an old HP Laserjet sitting around my office and decided to use it as a local printer/scanner. After installing all the software the scan would still not work. This has solved my problem, in fact, just the open with rosetta part was enough, just do not forget to close the app before trying to mark that box otherwise it will be gray out.

Compost Pile Friends
adosuzano
by adosuzano  11-4-2009
they may not look nice but they are big helpers (most of the time). However, if you are concerned about the food web in your compost pile "breaking out," try the following tips: 1. Create a barrier by spreading a line of wood ash (not barbecue ash because of fat residues) or crushed egg shells around your compost pile. This will keep the activity contained within the pile. 2. A similar, but more lethal technique, is to sink small margarine containers full of stale beer, molasses and water, or yeast and water in the ground around the compost pile. Unsuspecting slugs, sow bugs, and earwigs will be attracted to the liquid, crawl inside, and drown. Earwigs can be sprayed with a solution of one tablespoon of liquid soap detergent combined with one quart of water. This will kill the earwigs that are doing damage and spare the helpful bugs that are eating dead organic material. (information from California Integrated Waste Management Board)

Life without Parole at Age 16
adosuzano
by adosuzano  11-2-2009
I got to know about Sarah's case from a facebook friend (Thanks Alisa). I know it is hard to have a fair justice system, specially when life is not fair, but this case illustrate something that should not be called justice! Check youtube video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR7mno6p9iQ&feature=related and decide for yourself if you want to sign a petition to change that . I am not against Life without parole, in fact there are countries that should have a law like that (=Brazil), but its application to minors should be reconsidered.

B&N eBook Reader - Nook
adosuzano
by adosuzano  10-23-2009
I would buy one for Christmas if it had a browser. Not sure how far B&N is from a more intelligent device though. Nook runs Google Android, has WiFi access (free at B&N stores), allow downloads over-the-air using AT&T 3G network (access is included in the price of the device), has USB and its memory can be expanded by using a mini-SDCard. To me, it looks like an iPhone with a bigger display! (I am sure Apple has one in the works...)
