New Film: AGENDA--Grinding America Down

by blueridge  5-3-2011
Thesis of film: What is really behind the "progressive" movement. This is not necessarily an endorsement of everything said, since the so-called "right" has also not proven to be righteous. But it will certainly make people think and shake things up and re-examine the roots of, and directly challenge, what is now termed progressive ideology.

MAY DAY 2011: Osama bin Laden Killed, or Dead Already?
blueridge
by blueridge  5-3-2011    1
Even Bush stated openly he did not care about bin Laden 6 months after 9/11, and everyone else thought he was "probably dead" too. In Dec. 2001 these news releases emerged as well. Except of course for the convenient and spurious propaganda videos annually released to perpetuate fear and the War on Terror, i.e. for "regime change" in the Middle East per the neoconservatives plan. Even besides that, the FBI stated that Bin Laden was NOT "Wanted" for 9/11, nor ever indicated such on their website Wanted poster under terrorists. Just a few things to consider from this source as you hear that his alleged body (or someone else's, who was releasing propaganda at the conflict site) was quickly disposed of at sea, which is highly suspicious. This actually might be more of a propaganda ploy in the war on terror, to see who reacts with military standing by to watch for "blow back", a way of "flushing out the terrorists" who believing the propaganda would want revenge.

Needed: Congress Must Take Back War Powers from Presidents
blueridge
by blueridge  3-24-2011
Congress must debate and resolve this now. Bush, Obama, and Clinton have all usurped war powers authority over Congress, contrary to the Constitution, without representation of the people being consulted. This freshmen representative from Virginia summed it up well, even pointing blame to his own party (most justly): “This is not a partisan issue with me; I have serious concerns about how prior Republican presidents have used or potentially misused that authority, and I think this should trigger a debate within Congress and the American people about proper interpretation and application of Constitution. I’m surprised more conservatives aren’t speaking out about this issue,” freshman Rep. Scott Rigell (R-Va.) told POLITICO. “American lives were not at risk in Libya at the time, and Libya was not a material threat to the United States or its territory Amen to that! and this should be addressed by all candidates for President

Tweeting the Civil War: 150th Anniversary, Live Re-enactment
blueridge
by blueridge  3-23-2011
Historian tweets the 150th anniversary events LIVE, from 1861. Interesting! Planning to follow the war, month by month, year by year with tweets. It's March 1861 now....war is looming and NC writers are worried. It's timely, it's relevant. Big Government began with Lincoln , and the Constitutional conflict surpassed the events of the Tea Party and American Revolution by far. In fact it was an overthrow of the Constitutional and limited government to one of Consolidation, by The Great Consolidator (says Walter Williams on Lincoln). The so-called Civil War (where the Southern States seceded on the same principle as the War for Independence) cost the lives of over 620,000 Americans, more than all other U.S. wars combined! It started U.S. policy of Unjust Wars (see Clipmark) for "freedom".

Courts Split against Feds: DUI Checkpoints are Unconstitutional
blueridge
by blueridge  3-22-2011
At least 12 states believe these Gestapo-like checkpoints are unconstitutional, and do not permit them to be employed by police (where police also search cars visually, and sometimes request papers, for other violations, like a dragnet!) Drudge had linked to an article which talked about U.S. Senators telling Apple to ban Apps that warned drivers of DUI checkpoints. That article told that Oregon has rule such checkpoints unconstitutional. Searching from there I found this article. This source summarizes how the U.S. Supreme Court decided 6-3 to permit them, but states rights (10th amendment) trumps the federal court ruling for local law enforcement. Thus arguments can be made within state courts to ban them as unconstitutional, which they clearly are , despite the "plea of necessity". After all if police can stop you at random in your car, then ultimately they could search your house too, by the same argument, which is absolutely forbidden.

More than fingerprints: includes palms, iris, voice, face and tattoos. Note this from the WV Gazette: Under the system, state and local police officers also will eventually use hand-held devices to scan suspects' fingerprints and send the images electronically to the FBI center. "It's a quick scan to let police officers know if they should let the person go, or take him into custody," Morris said. Does that mean from a traffic stop? Or after a full arrest and being booked (fingerprinted)? It better be the latter, because the 4th amendment makes the former unlawful.

Kucinich Indicts Obama: Libya Attack an Act of War, Unconstitutional, Impeachable
blueridge
by blueridge  3-22-2011    2
Kucinich (D-Ohio) is right. Obama hypocritically acted outside the Constitution, for which he had earlier criticized George W. Bush (most justly) in regard to war powers. Only Congress can declare an act of war on any country, not a President. That is the law. And in that regard, he acted precisely like Bush , albeit to a lesser extent. But the principle stands. The Constitution is supreme law and non-partisan and every President and Congressmen swears to defend and uphold it. Anytime a Congress or President acts outside the Constitution it is a form of governmental anarchy, and arbitrary power, which is both illegal and dangerous to our stability, peace, and justice. Hats off to Kucinich, or any Congressman, who calls the President on any unconstitutional act. He goes further: Kucinich: Obama could be impeached for attacking Libya

Deja Vu: War on Libya and "the Lies of March"
blueridge
by blueridge  3-21-2011
Finally, some healthy skepticism in Western Media about "Operation Libyan Freedom", i.e. another UN sponsored war for "regime change" in Libya. The author compares Bush-Blair action with Obama-Cameron action today, and suggests everyone think over what we are being told: Now all this could be true – but our experience of other March military assaults in which Britain has played a prominent role suggests we should, at the very least, treat with one huge barrow-load of salt the claims currently being made about why we're going to war. And you thought the UN was a "peaceful" organization, yet it is responsible for more and more wars, and is largely a Global Democratic Gang to establish Western favored governments by force. (Russia, Germany, and India abstained on this action).

War on Libya: Neocons Push for Iraq and Kosovo 2.0, and Get It

"Operation Libyan Freedom" would be too obvious. "Follow the Dots" from three very different sources and you will begin to see that we are being lied to again, with Obama playing a low-key role, as if this is an "international decision", when without the U.S. military involvement it would be absolutely nothing. (I know, France and Britain pushed for it.....publicly that is...first). But the "powers that be", including the Neoconservatives who brought us Iraq via "WMD threat", have ramped up the propaganda to make this another "necessary" war (under pretense of "no fly zone" operation only) to "defend civilians" (as if the U.S. is not the largest military instigator of "collateral damage"). And again the MSM and pro-Zionist Media are cheer leading, just like they did for Iraq (Bush) and Kosovo (Clinton) wars. Get it yet? Analyst: "This not just a no fly zone operation".

Investment Banks/Investors: The Real Cause of Oil/Gas Price Rise

Investment bankers have unleashed speculation on oil prices and have profited immensely for it. Speculation is then driving upon FEAR, i.e. political turmoil in Middle East, wars, etc., which artificially raises the bidding price of oil futures, translating to higher gas prices (and from there all consumer goods for transportation costs; general inflation). Next to blame (says this pro) are the speculative investors: The investor is next to be blamed. They have fallen to a large degree for indexes and commodity ETFs. These new participants are exclusively buying; no one is selling and Everyone wants to hold. They understand the importance of crude in the global economy. The oil market was relatively stable until the commodity market was allowed to expand with the passage of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act in 2000.

London to Conduct Catastrophic Flood Drill

The headline is rather provocative, as if to state an absolute certainty. So is this propaganda, fear-mongering, and hype or potentially real, or probable? Does the UK government want everyone to be "terrified" as the headline suggests? Is this to scare UK citizenry into Climate Change Agenda support, or why has this suddenly become such a potential reality? £1.8million is being spent on the test exercises which will involve ten government departments and utility companies in what ministers say is the 'largest civil defence exercise ever' in Britain. Whether about terrorism or any agenda, to perpetuate fear is contrary to the purpose of government, and likely a means of gaining support for an unpopular or disputed agenda. Of course any kind of catastrophe is possible, but the question is the alarm proportionate to the probability , or rather paranoid and for another purpose?

U.S. Military Spending is Staggering, Must Be Cut

The #1 national security interest of the U.S. is the national debt, largely financed by China. It is in fact more likely that America could be destroyed financially than militarily, and every American would feel it, and already is in the devaluation of the dollar and higher prices, including on gasoline. (Oil is traded in U.S. dollars by most countries). U.S. military spending must be cut, and deep, to trim back the deficit and national debt. Republicans like Sen. Rand Paul have been bold enough to propose such, and it's becoming more acknowledged now. See article: It's Time for Republicans to get Serious about Budget Cuts

CIA Caught Flat-footed on Middle East Because of Al Qaeda Focus

Wow, what a revelation! The politicized and propaganda-laced "war on terror" has actually prevented the CIA (with an enormous budget and covert operations) from seeing the big picture and the sudden revolutionary tumult, failing "to see the forest through the trees". The whole Al Qaeda game has distracted them from the larger picture, and their own allies are being overturned (Yemen, Egypt, etc). The revolution in Tunisia was a surprise, says this CIA defender Just more proof that the microscopic focus on Al Qaeda so-called is BAD FOREIGN POLICY Read the conclusion by David Ignatius again: Here's the bottom line: The CIA is caught in a jam that's emblematic of America's larger problem in the Middle East. The agency has been so focused on stopping al-Qaeda that it has been distracted from other questions. America depends on good intelligence as never before, and the simple truth is that the CIA has to lift its game.

But this is the scary part of their claim--i.e. for action "against the U.S. itself"? Pakistan, however, says that the two men Davis killed were ISI agents ... Most ominous in this SVR report, though, is Pakistan’s ISI stating that top-secret CIA documents found in Davis’s possession point to his, and/or TF373, providing to al Qaeda terrorists “nuclear fissile material” and “biological agents” they claim are to be used against the United States itself in order to ignite an all-out war in order to reestablish the West’s hegemony over a Global economy that is warned is just months away from collapse. . 4th Amendment vs. Feds: Judges Can Require Warrants for Email, Cell Phone Records

Major court ruling about email and cell phone privacy. But not an entire sweeping victory yet... the government routinely obtains email content using D orders instead of warrants ... The key holding in this case affects the basic operation of the SCA for D Orders. What the Third Circuit held was that, when the government applies for a D Order, the judge has the discretion to deny that application and instead require a warrant .... Although this decision is only binding in the Third Circuit, we expect it will newly embolden magistrates across the country to deny government applications that raise serious Fourth Amendment questions. And it certainly will assist EFF and other friends of the court when we fight against such government applications — we no longer have to convince magistrates that the government's requested order would violate the Fourth Amendment, but only that it might.

OpenLeaks Versus WikiLeaks
blueridge
by blueridge  12-14-2010
A better model for obtaining and leaking information? It is interesting to consider their model vs. WikiLeaks because each approach has direct consequences on what content and how information gets out to the public at large, since information can be manipulated or abused. OpenLeaks has some good ideas, especially in preventing the politicization of which content gets published and who decides. However, trusting five newspapers and Big Media to redact, edit, and publish for the world is too narrow a broadcast and an untrustworthy filter. Much more to read at the source of this article which gives insights into the "autocratic" Assange. According to Domscheit-Berg, resource constraints prevented WikiLeaks from publishing all the leaked documents provided to them (a fact which Assange himself verified) and the decision process to choose which documents would get leaked necessarily became a political one, changing the nature of the organisation itself.

His "Don't Shoot the Messenger" article begins by comparing what he has done to Murdoch's father who did similar. A very compelling comparison, and that is only the beginning. Note, he is not "anti-war" (pacifism), which bursts another bubble. He also presents strong legal precedent from the highest U.S. court for doing such: In its landmark ruling in the Pentagon Papers case, the US Supreme Court said "only a free and unrestrained press can effectively expose deception in government". The swirling storm around WikiLeaks today reinforces the need to defend the right of all media to reveal the truth. Some believe that Assange (as a former arrested hacker) could either be providing propaganda FOR the Pentagon (note it supports most of their propaganda about Iran etc, and Israel is never criticized) or being "used" as an unsuspected source for such purposes.  Before dismissing this story consider the source, a leading Israeli journalist: Yossi Melman is a senior commentator for the Israeli daily 'Haaretz' who specialises in strategic issues, terrorism and intelligence Israel is trying to do more than assassinate nuclear scientists (who are not militant combatants any more than Einstein was), they are trying to PROVOKE IRAN TO RETALIATE TO START THEIR DESIRED WAR. Previous clipmarks have pointed out admitted U.S. covert operations within Iran . Israel is trying to drag the U.S. and Britain into this conflict to support (again) THEIR war. They have already gotten President Obama to pledge war if Iran should strike Israel, which is why Israel is trying to provoke Iran to strike back. This bombing and assassination is government-sponsored terrorism , by Israel at least, and likely the U.S. and Britain being complicit.
