About me
Enjoy photography, gardening, good recipes, web design and creating digital art.
Why I use Clipmarks
I do a lot of research for my friends and myself. I thought Clipmarks would be ideal for clipping segments and tagging rather than editing info that I've saved to my hard drive in docs. It's been everything and more than I imagined it would be, and is a great time saver. I also enjoy sharing comments on current events or topics of interest. It's nice to be able to re-visit information without worrying whether the original web bookmark is still valid. Thanks Clipmarks!

Call Out to Protect our Water
bookchick49
by bookchick49  8-20-2007
“I believe the proposal to allow increased dumping of ammonia and toxic sludge into Lake Michigan from British Petroleum's oil refinery in Whiting, Indiana is unconscionable. Certainly a company that claims to be "Beyond Petroleum" can also be beyond polluting our waters. "Please halt progress on this proposal now and find a way to deal with the waste this plant produces other than dumping more of it into Lake Michigan."

Florida Gov. Bush cautious over global warming
bookchick49
by bookchick49  8-10-2006
Additionally: Curry stated...."it's not totally conclusive, but with considerable confidence—that there is this connection between global warming and increased global hurricane intensity and the increased number of hurricanes in the north Atlantic.'' "There isn't scientific consensus that global temperature increases explain increased hurricane intensity, and there are some researchers who say there isn't a continuing long-term pattern of global warming at all" " The debate is something of a storm itself, and Bush joined it cautiously."

Nuclear Nightmares- 20 Yrs since Chernobyl

There isn't anything I can or want to clip other than what you see above. In order to view the photos and their details, you have to visit the site. In reviewing this website, to visit it is the only way to get a true sense of the life after Chernobyl. Although, highly clipworthy (IMHO), it deserves direct traffic. Credit given where credit is due. This website is NOT enjoyable nor is it highly graphic. But can be a bit depressing. One has to wonder why, why, why! There is some information at the site that basically states this area is and will be radioactive for hundreds of years yet. Place your mouse over the pictures to force a description of each photo. There are "back" and "next" buttons. Difficult to see due to the dark background of the website, but they are there. I added the tag "global warming" for the reasons you'll read on the last page of this website.

It will also provide topography and vegetation data around the globe, in addition to the polar-specific coverage over the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets."
