POPSAnother post responding to net nastiness I agree in principle with these ideas, and that if the nastiness continues, people are likely to just pack up and go somewhere else to have their discussions. However, I also feel that people who launch truly nasty attacks can't really be persuaded to stop doing so. You really have to decide what is considered acceptable and take that hard step to clean up posts that cross the line.

POPSRESTlet Not that we need a new framework, but it might be interesting to look at this.

POPSEmergency Code Word This is a major problem actually that needs to be addressed by the office culture. But why do people fear asking for help? Isn't it because of a lack of a strong culture for design and collaboration. If you ALWAYS consider design at appropriate intervals, there is opportunity to collaborate on the best way to solve a particular problem. This is why I think pair programming does wonders: because when you actually take pair programming seriously, you tend to get the best implementation that two brains would have come up with, and both brains are now smarter for the experience.

POPSFree your intranet with Web 2.0 I love these ideas. However, I think the success of a Web 2.0-ish intranet would be highly dependent upon the culture of the participants. It is all too easy for those who resist operating in free form mode to make the intranet seem disorganized and messy. The obvious backlash being to move toward a system that is more thoroughly locked down and systematically organized from the start. So, a prerequisite would be to create or promote a culture that values Web 2.0 characteristics.

POPSFamily Wiki for Free just spent some time playing around with their jotspot wikis and they are pretty good if you need something pretty simple. want to play with the family wiki. i guess the thing that makes this look cool is they have the concept of creating apps you can install to your wiki, and they *seem* to be embracing an open source "way" -- but not quite sure. have to take a closer look.
