About me
I'm a take charge of your own life kind of person. I came from a small town with a very modest upbringing. My parents didn't have much but they took care of us and we always had food on the table, a roof over our heads and lots of love. My dad was vary addiment that if I wanted something I had to work for it. That stuck with me to this day and that's still the way I approach life. I started out working in fast food in high school, became a manager then moved on because I knew it was dead end. Then I got a job with a very small medical electronics company that over the next 9 years grew into a very large, very successful company. I worked my way up from the very bottom of that company until I was an engineering manager when I left. I now work for another startup medical electronics company which I will soon own part of as long as working hard keeps paying off. I hope to retire by my mid 40's and spend lots of time with my family if all goes well.

I enjoy outdoor activities such as boating, scuba, motorcycles, ATVs, volleyball, basketball, gardening and pretty much anything that gets me out of the house. I'm also a bit of a tech nerd so I like the gadgets and things.
Why I use Clipmarks
Clipmarks is a very interesting place to see many different ideas and opinions. Its also somewhere that I can voice my opinions and hopefully cause people to examine their points of view as I do regularly.

Now how do you like that. We had them all nice and locked up and we let them go, right back to terrorism. Wanna bet that there will be a public outcry of "why did we let them go!?" whenever one of these guys kills a bunch of people. Best part is that it will probably be by the same people who protested us keeping them there in the first place.

Obama's Speech Writer

by burndata0  12-18-2008
I think this guy is a good choice for Obama. If you want to reach the up and coming generation you employ one of their own to help. Its a good move, not to mention the guy consulted with Peggy Noonan who wrote Regan's speeches. Obama certainly has poised himself, so far, to go down in history as a great speaker. the article is way to long for the clip so go check it out.

Sugary Soda Tax
burndata0
by burndata0  12-18-2008    1
Ehh, not sure what to think about this. On one hand it certainly did well for me to drastically reduce my soda intake a few years ago (lost 10 lbs in 2 months by just cutting out sugary drinks) but on the other hand it is up to individuals to control themselves not the government. But, Americans are increasingly stupid about their dietary choices. Check out the rest of the clip at the link.

Tighter credit restrictions to eliminate subprime credit cards and the credit card companies can't change the interest rate on money you have already charged. I can't believe it took this long to bring this into action.

Can blue Colored Light Prevent Suicide
burndata0
by burndata0  12-17-2008    1
I'm not sure about suicide but for about a year back in high school I used to wear round sunglasses with blue tinted lenses all the time. I always told people that when I was wearing them I always felt more mellow (and no, it wasn't because of the smoke, didn't venture into that area until well after high school) I guess it wasn't just in my head :) follow the link for the rest.

Simple Explanation of the Stock Market
burndata0
by burndata0  12-12-2008
While the man was away the assistant told the villagers, "Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has bought. I will sell them to you at $35 each and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each." The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys. They never saw the man nor his assistant again, and once again there were monkeys everywhere. Now you have a better understanding of how the stock market works.

Simpsons porn.... Illegal?????
burndata0
by burndata0  12-8-2008    3
I'm not condoning this type of thing but the fact that someone could be convicted of a crime because of it is utterly ridiculous. People make drawings of all kinds of crazy stuff, does this mean that the next time an animator kills someone in a cartoon that they should be tried for murder?!?! Because if as the article says "Justice Michael Adams ruled a fictional cartoon character was a "person" " then there are a LOT of people out there in a LOT of trouble. If they had found genuine child pornography on this guys computer then I would say this was all well and fine, but characters such as the Simpsons don't exactly closely resemble real people. It may point to something deeper with this person or it may not, but the law is not supposed to convict on speculation.

Here's your change... Obama is going to make the money spent on the war look like pocket change AND he is already backing out on campaign promises. Just goes to show that politics don't change just because the figure head does. Can't wait until the country's poor figure out that Obama isn't going to pay their mortgages and cell phone bills.

The most misinformed voters in history. Its truly sad when the reasons for voting for someone come down to their skin color or the media hype. Be sure to go to the page and read the telephone polls conducted and the responses to the process. A quote from one of the links defending the legitimacy of the poll: "We went out of our way to find articulate people who thought they were informed about the election. I did not even choose the subjects (for whatever it is worth, they were chosen by a black female)"
